SSBB will sell more then PS3 GTA4. But more the X360-version I doubt.
The X360 audience seems like the kind of type that enjoys GTA games the most. And the previous SSB-games hasn't sold extremly well if you compare to the previous GTA-games. But then again SSBB will launch on a bigger user base then the GC and it has far more hype, so it could be close call.

HD consoles are doing fine right now and will continue to be ahead of the Wii in sales for the entire generation. I just think GTA4 will be a a big reason for focus being removed from Wii. This would have happened this october had the game been released. If MGS4, Splinter Cell Conviction, Burnout Paradise, Killzone 2, and GTA4 would have all been out for this winter it would be a lot differant picture.

You could be right, anything is possible, but when you have the 2 highest selling Franchises (GTA, Gran Turismo) of last generation coming out on the undisputed winning brand of the last gen, with a then competitive price, I find this hard to believe.

Also I don't understand this love for SSBB. I think it was a great game on the cube, but it does nothing speacial on the Wii. Their are plenty of games that are out or are coming out that actually use the Wii Mote that are way better. It just makes no sense to me that people are so hyped about a game on the Wii that is said to be unplayable with the Wii Mote when it is the only reason for the Wii.

It still shocks me that some people actually think SSBB has a chance of beating GTAIV's sales.

You should know how nutty some people can be.

The combined sales of the last main installment in the GTA series is around 17 million, the one before that sold 16.42 million. Now compare that to the Smash series with 6.58 million and 5.5 million. That's a pretty big difference in numbers.

Also people talking about attachment rates, well pretty much everyone buying a 360 and PS3 right now is a hardcore gamer, the same ones that would be attracted to a game like GTAIV. On the other hand the Wii has a split userbase in which there are millions of casuals.

I don't know what to say. I guess some people were expecting Super Mario Galaxy to hit 20 million at some point so I guess stuff like this shouldn't come as a surprise.

Since when have the xbox and PS3 been outselling the Wii? The way i look at it, the Wii gains on average some 150k per week on the xbox and PS3, at this moment with very big chances to improve on that. And even if all those games had come out, on what basis do you claim that the attention Wii is getting wouldn't be so big? From most of your posts you claimed that only really casual gamers buy the Wii, ergo they are not interested in such games that you just listed, ergo they would not be swayed by the PS3 and would still be interested in the Wii. What's your point?

First thing: HD consoles are not ahead of the Wii and there is no prove that this will happen.

 Remember transition from SNES to N64? Mario was in its own league and franchises like Zelda, Donkey Kong and Mario Kart slammed the concurrence. Did it matter? Not much, these games kept selling well, but the N64 still had no chance against the PS2.
And a competitive price is 250 $ and below, I'm sure PS3 will still cost more when GTA4 arrives.

That sentence about SSBB almost makes me angry, really. The Wii is a console after all, it does not matter if you use the Wiimote or not, games can be great. Why should a game that was great last gen be bad this gen only because it does not use motion control? That's like saying all PS3 and 360 games are bad just because they are not on the Wii!
