Man I can't wait to buy a chip board!

The Tegra is a contradiction to Nintendo's design philosophy. A Tegra chip would increase the cost a lot more. A Tegra chip would remove BC. The DS will only be apx a DSi with 2 DSi GPU + GPUMemory and maybe some extra touches. |
clearly a early dev board for demo purposes.
Now as for your Tegra bashing the latest rumor was that Nintendo were licensing some Tegra tech not buying an "off the shelf" chip. It wouldn't increase the cost per console that much really. It would not remove backwards compatibility as even off the shelf Tegras can have built in ARM cores and as the DS is powered by 2 ARM chips a single Tegra could have two newer ARM chips and the GPU component that allows Xbox 1 level effects. or they could have a multi core ARM chip and 2 chips with the graphics packages spun out into separate chips like what was shown in that patent not long ago, still maintaining BC.

Dang I was really hoping for a 3D touch screen. You know emulating the kind of holographic controls seen in the movies. But I guess Nintendo had to worry about manufacturing costs and two 3D screens with one touch enabled would cost alot more then a single 3D screen. Not to mention Nintendo could always release a dual screened 3D console later on like the DS:lite or DSi were released as later itterations to the DS. Either way I am really hoping both screens are 3D though this thread makes it doughtful!

Those pictures don't disprove the possibility of two touch screens. The board is just a test board, early GBA dev kit boards had four face button points with a SNES controller used as the controls for devs and early DS dev kit boards had two screens but no touch screen.
Also of note is the number of ribbons coming from each screen. Compared with the DSi screens, it seems that both will have a touch based interface. It's can't be guaranteed though as this is only a test board.
