For the record, though, I have not played Heavy Rain. But, from what I've seen, if you look at it from the same standards as the best of movies and television, its very average when it comes to writing and performances. But almost every game is. |
That just means the narrative purpose is different. It doesn't mean we shouldn't call good writing or bad writing otherwise just because it's a game.
BTW, I'm actually pleased with this thread, because much of the discussion here is, well, discussion. Even for those of you who like the game, you're at least willing to discuss it, and (for the most part) not dismissing any criticism of it because it's not what you want to read.
Hmm, I now realize that's what offened me the most. It wasn't just holding the game up, but refusing to listen to any voice telling them the game's writing isn't that great.
