In fairness I think one of the most ridiculously praised stories thie generation was MGS4, it had a complete bat shit crazy plot yet people still praise it. I just put it down to my own opinions being vastly different to those people who rave about such games and certainly do not get offended or bothered by people who like to think stories in games are in some way a masterpiece.
At least you know the game must be good if people love it enough to hype anything and everything about it.
