I still think it's ugly... Too much jagged edges for my taste...

^What about resolution? That picture has, like, 4 times as many pixels as a DS screen if I'm not mistaken.

That is something I thought of, but there's always the chance that the screen is supposed to pan over it.

This is true, DS screens are quite a bit smaller than that. If if was enlarged from the original, I would imagine that it would be at least a little fuzzy, but it's not.

If it scrolled over the picture, then it would have to zig-zag, because it is both wider and taller than a DS screen. It could just scroll down and still capture the whole image.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

This is my pick of the bunch

Also worth noting is that I went to scale the above image down to DS specs. I set the width to 256 pixels and it auto-scaled the height to PRECISELY the height of a DS screen.

aka, it's the exact same aspect ratio of a DS screen.

This supports my theory that the games will be designed for 3DS compatibility/expandability.

The idea would be to pan over the picture from a possibly randomly chosen "point A" to a possibly randomly chosen "point B", thus making the image slightly different each time it's viewed. I've seen it done quite a few times in games; it's a fun concept.

I'm going to side with the idea that they're designing the games with the 3DS in mind as well, though.

Nice sig man! Love the pokestarters reunited!

(but, lol, whoever says black and white have the worst starters need to check Ruby and Saphire!) They don't even fit well with the others!

That doesn't mean much since the image is 4:3 wich is a standard format. It seems like it's just concept art maybe it was actually even larger and has been resized, who knows.

3DS expandability might make sense, but they wouldn't be able to just down scale this picture and use it on DS, it would look bad, really bad.

Typically, standard screen formats aren't used for anything not a screenshot. I don't think I've EVER seen concept art follow PRECISELY the measurements of a standard screen format.

Anyways, here's the image scaled to the precise resolution of the DS screen:

And here it is enlarged from that resolution to emulate being displayed on a larger screen (like the DSi XL):

It looks absolutely fine in both instances. There's absolutely no reason it can't be scaled down to fit on a DS.
