I shouldnt have to care, this site tracks game sales, and its been proven many times to be widely wrong.
If the site cant be accurate enough to do what its supposed to do, then it should shut down.

Not really. If you don't like it, you should just leave.
There are users that enjoy this site, that's why is still open.

I lol'd
@buu: The site is a free service that's largely within 10% margin of error and has awesome historical data and allows graphing and also the drawing up of tables. This is the owner of the sites life, this is how he makes a living, why would he shut the site down when it's making him money and he's doing what he loves? Why would he want to shut it down when there are so many people using the site, look at the community here and look at the types of publications that cite VGC figures (mainstream newspapers and websites use numbers from here).
Speaking of making stuff up off the top of ones head.
The link you sent us to gives a figure of 1.6 million for ME2
http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-6894-Video-Game-News-Examiner~y2010m5d12-EA-reveals-sales-results-for-Army-of-Two-The-40th-Day-Dantes-Inferno-and-Mass-Effect-2
The link you sent us to however, cites as its source the following
http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-6894-Video-Game-News-Examiner~y2010m5d11-Sales-milestones-for-EA-games-during-2010-fiscal-year
And that site doesn't mention ME2 at all.
So I tracked down the source - EA's financial statement.

No mention of Mass Effect 2's sales
Infact, the only reference I could get on google for Mass Effect 1.6 million is that the first game was announced to have sold 1.6 million
Give us a LEGITIMATE source before you come on here talking shit about the fine work these people do
Wouldnt people want accurate numbers? would people on Box office mojo like it if they just guessed numbers?
They reported MGS Peace Walkers sales were at least 530,000 then a couple days later it was 440,000.
You dont know what to believe on this site.

So if this site wasn't here then what? For the most part the site can give a good estimation within a 10% margin of error on hardware and big name software titles.
If this site didn't exist then you wouldn't have any clue as to how well a game or console was selling for the majority of the year unless you paid for the data, and even then it'd be on a region by region basis. No one attempts to present world-wide video games sales data for free, except this site.
Can it be wrong? Yes, but so can all the top tracking firms with larger data sets, and just like them, it adjusts numbers. Only difference is VGChartz does it openly so you can see when the adjustments are made.
There is a man called Jacob living in a mysterious island telling ioi what the numbers are, I thought you would know that Mr.Shepard ?
Is your first name Jack by any chance ?
