Reasonable on 17 May 2010

looks like my patient wait for a great, open world Western game has been realized judging by most reviews I've read - even Eurogamer's lower 8/10 doesn't mesh with the obvious praise of their review.

Pity this is going to be jostling with modnation racers as I love editing and building stuff, too.

Oh well, too much of a good thing is a better problem to wrestle with than too little.



Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

what a stupid reason for missing one of the best games coming out this year, possibly one of the best sandbox games this gen. your not buying the game because of a contsume? the only thing the ps3 has is a costume and a ranch or a cave or a treasure(i have no idea what it is). rockstar broke deals with sony and this one of their sly ways of saying sorry were making it up to you. the important thing is that the game is good and that you have fun playing it.

It may be stupid... but my time and funds are limited and there are other great games that I may use the time and money I was going to spend on Red Dead Redemption. It's not a huge boycott... I'll just trade this great game for another - for example Monster Hunter 3 or Alan Wake.

We don't have to play all the great games they release. Even if I could - and I can't-  I woudn't.

And if they give a reason like Rockstar just gave me, I'll just switch my interest somewhere else. Simple.


So did you boycott GTA IV and all the games that gimped the PS3 version?  You seem to be against the practice of what they are doing, so I'm just wondering if you're against the practice or a hypocrit.

I played GTA4 on the PC, and at the time I didn't even knew they made those things to the PS3 version. But yeah, it's just as bad, even if I'm not as vocal as I am when they do it to the consoles I have.

But I don't believe I bought a more complete 360 game (over the PS3 version), since the only other example I remember seeing is Batman and its exclusive Joker on the PS3. Wasn't intending to buy it anyway, but hated the practice just as much.


Fair enough...its actually quite admirable in that case.  It pisses me off too (though if I get this game, i'll get it on the PS3).

I have a friend who has played the PS3 version now and tells me he has had no problems or seen any of the stuff being rumoured about. So basically if there are any differences it is because people are intentionally looking for them, they are not noticable so thus they are identical. Now just hope my pre-order comes early :)

Oh wow. Yeah I just came back to the thread and now there's 18 reviews on meta. Yeah it sounds like the majority love the game. I still want to see IGN's review though and gamespot.

IGN...just gave it....wait for it...9.7

 

It's got 20 meta critic reviews atm...the lowest score...is a 90..atm its sitting at a 95....im hoping it goes back up..as this easly makes gta4...look like the trash it really was.

I'll be getting this somewhere down the road, I really hope Rockstar and the reviewers have gotten their act together this time. I don't see why people are so giddy over the scores though, especially considering Rockstar's last outing.

Gamesradar reviewed the PS3 version, 9. Not quite as good as GTA 4 but very close.
