Forums - PC - Electronic Arts abandoning PC gamers?

I just noticed that there will be no PC version of EA's Fifa World Cup 2010 soccer game. From my knowledge this is the first time a Fifa game has skipped the PC platform. Could this be EA being fattup with PC piracy and experimenting how sales on the other platforms will be impacted by this? In logic EA might be trying to force people who want the game but normally pirate it for PC, to buy it on a console.

Even considering the much larger install base first week sales seem to be up from previous installments of Fifa championship games.

I think this will be a close one to watch!

Doubt it, FIFA 11's still coming out along with plenty of other PC games.

There was a time when they wanted to stop making new FIFA games for the PC, but I think they changed their mind.

True, but what I think the TC is trying to say (well not trying he is just saying it) is that 2010 World Cup might be an experiment. And if the results are positive then FIFA 2012 might be console exclusive.

I don't think it will happen as World Cup is more or less a spin-off and since they aren't investing a lot of time and resources into it I don't think there are any demands on how many copies need to be sold thus they can choose to skip a platform.

Indeed that is what i meant. I also remember that the Madden series used to come out for PC aswell, but that stopped doing that aswell.

I don't think many PC gamers care about Madden. I know I don't.

they probably going to have it digitally on their EA Store ... no?

nope, there will be no World Cup on PC. the normal FIFA for PC has been shitty for years, but now they're getting this shitty version as an MMO.

they already have it like this in South Korea, but now it's going to be worldwide.

the problem is that they've made an awesome engine for next-gen consoles, but the PC version is just a rehash every year, and with so many changes it obviously gets worse each time, and it seems FIFA Online will be based on the shitty PC version.

the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

It's funny because Pro Evolution Soccer was one of the most pirated games a couple of years ago but Konami seem to find it profitable enough to continue.

i doubt it, battlefield sold great on PC
