Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo is setting its sights on Apple

I don't really see a good future for Apple in the real gaming scene. If they were to create a dedicated iPlay or some piece of garbage it would probably run off of iPhone OS (Like the giant iPod Touch known as iPad) and have a few buttons. This will be their justification to charge maybe $200-$300 more than the base iPod Touch. Even worse, an Apple console would have to be at a higher price than PS3 at launch because it has a picture of a fruit on it....

People seem to forget that when Apple launched the iPhone, it was significantly lower in price than similar devices. Keep in mind, the vastly inferior RAZR V3 phone cost over $900 USD less than two years earlier than the iPhone launch. The iPhone is what brought the mobile market down to reasonable prices, mostly because a simple Java-based phone could no longer cost $750 dollars.

I'm curious as to how Nintendo will compete with Apple's massive amounts of really cheap content.

mm if he said so.

that article made it sound like Nintendo was falling off the face of the earth...

They fail to mention the is Still the best selling console, and since the console are all within 100 dollar of each other now, I find that to be impressive.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

I don't see how come a phone is a threat.

"I won't buy 3DS because I will buy the new iphone"

It doesn't make sense at all.

The line of thought would go more like this:

"I can already play games on my iPhone, so I don't need a 3DS to entertain me on the go."

This information is obviously coming from a secret source, and is therefore paraphrased in the words of the source, and possibly again in the words of the journalist. It's not a quote. I'll agree that there's a chance it's total bunk, though.

I hope they don't.

The AppStore is flooded with shit apps and games. Users can't decide which game might be good or not in the middle of that mess.

Even illegal stuff like emulators find its way to the appStore, there's no control over that, anyone can make an app to the iphone, that's why is has a "massive ammount of content" which by the way, is 99% shitty stuff.

For that, people need to see gaming value in the iPhone as they may see on 3DS.

If you ask people a couple of iPhone games that may entertain them on the go, they can't say anything because the good iPhone games no one knows them.

3DS is all about games, people may know about Brain Training 3, Nintendogs 2 or something else on TV ads. iPhone is not marketed as a gaming machine.

While that strategy doesn't change, iPhone will never be a threat. No matter if it sells more or less than a portable gaming console. The effect will be minimal.

There is the possibility for low-end disruption there, but i think it is overestimated at this point still.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

apple isn't so succesful really with the iphone.
