I'm glad they didn't announce during E3 - I can imagine the "journalist" manchildren throwing chairs around the Kodak theater in an absolute rage for Nintendo having the audacity to develop and reveal another party game (let alone with a title as 'egregious' as Wii Party). Well there's actually still a chance for outrage if Nintendo spends more than 5 seconds talking about it at E3, but right now we're going to have to settle for internet outrage as the anti-casual crowd surely moves in on this news to protest it as obnoxious and loudly as they can.

On the subject of the game itself, this seems like a natural extension of Wii Sports/Play. Mario Party is a different beast. I didn't know that series had a rabid enough fanbase for them to converge on every game with 'party' in its title under the impression that it's somehow personally responsible for the much needed break Mario Party is getting.

don't own a wii, but for some reason might end up playing this game a few times before this year ends.

Nice and surprising announcement. I have never played Wii Music, but have enjoyed all of the other Wii series titles, including Wii Play which this seems most similar to. I think it would be great if as someone suggested above, this game was compatible with multiple of the system's peripherals. Should be a good addition to the holiday lineup, and between this and the vitality sensor game, the Wii has its 2010 versions of Wii Sports Resort and Wii Fit Plus.

They should have called it New Super Mario Party Wii.

Guess we can add another 10m+ seller to the list.

I'm sure it will be a fun game.
