Well can't say I'm overly optimistic with Cameron at the helm but will of coarse give him the benefit of the doubt until he's actually had a crack at it. That said, Labour clearly needed booting out and unfortunately there isn't much choice on offer in out political system.

Should be interesting to see how a Con-Lib coalition copes, hopefully then can last a full term. I don't particularly look forward to another election anytime soon.

Looks like the Lib Dems will take up a good number of posts within the government not just restricted to a few cabinet seats. I wonder how some of the Tory front bench feel when they are told their job is being given to a Lib Dem

the end of lord mandleson grip on power too,

some labour people said good things like i mentioned earlier,we can watch them rip themselves apart for a bit like all parties do when they fight for leadership.good fun

@ffan yes i agree, who knows how cameron will do in a minority govt(basically) but anything is better than brown and the scots,up the english, lol

so have the libdems got a cabinet places or what or is just an agreement

2100: President Obama phones Tory leader to congratulate him

The support from the USA could be crucial for Cameron something Blair had that Brown never grasped.

Apparently Harriet Harman is going to step in as a temporary replacement for Brown....All of a sudden Conseravtive supporters have a double reason for celebration!

I for one never actually hated Brown, for one thought he did well to nationalise the banks. Overall it was just the timing of when he came into power and castatrophic problems that overwhelmed.

Give it 6 months before we'll all cry for another Labour government.

not me and plenty of others to

thank the lord labour have finally been ousted,be a while before we see them again i pray

Me neither. I couldn't be happier that Labour are out of government. They have been promoting the wrong values and work ethic that this country needs to prosper. Sure people who literally "cba" to work won't get as much money but this promotes a better work ethic and will ultimatly boost the economy.

Welcome David Cameron...the leader of the United Kingdom

As Blair said in the past...."The people have spoken"

So emphatically so that he couldn't even form a majority government!

yeah, like I said im hopefull the Lib Dems will moderate some of the Tory policies I dont like, so that would be good.

be interesting to see the make up of the Cabinet too, its gonna be a very fragile co-allition though, just wait for the first big decision...

in fairness, it does now sound like they have agreed to a fixed term 4 year parliament so Cameron cant just usurp the Lib Dems when he gets ahead in the polls (BBC News are saying very quick legislation on this is in the agreement)

You think that with a (coalition) conservative government in power the US will suddenly bow to our will? The only leverage we have against the US is through the EU I'm afraid.

she said already on BBC News that she wont be standing for the new leader.

most of the money seems to be on David Milliband.

At least he might take Labour back to their roots and remember what they used to stand for! Yeah, probably not

Internet is full of David Cameron hate from people who can't speak English.

Delightful. How long is this going to go on?

Let them whine... poor things, probably slow of thought.

is this an example of the new more tolerant Conservative Party im reading?

its a reaction to the rather thick boo boys that labour seems to attract and have started even before the government has even had a chance.

hooligans.

whereas im sure that during the Labour years the entire Conservative support base was silent, well behaved and gracious in accepting what the government did and its moments in power?

Very different. We started complaining when Tony Blair started messing up. Cameron hasn't done anything yet.

And Tony Blair was hardly the victim of cries of "Fuck off back to Eton, you rich-loving git", now was he?
