I thought Modern Warfare "dethroned" Halo a long time ago...

EA, EA, EA........just when I thought you had improved....

On a serious note, very unprofessional of him to want to "craft" a Halo-killer, even mentioning it. Oh well, I'm sure his game will be quite a looker, but it will hardly put any dent in Halo's success.

??? why is it unprofessional to want to craft a _____ killer? for a man that talks about love in competition its kinda ironic to see you say that.

If you "kill' off the competiton, there's nothing to compete with. How do you not see the irony in that? O.o

in a technical sense they dont really mean kill ( or at least they shouldnt) the phrase at its purest means to rob them of there domination of said genre. Its sign of respect and acknowledgement

I disagree with his wording. To want to be stiff competition is welcome. To claim you're "crafting" an "X" Killer is far more bold.

Also: http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/post.php?post=2014574&page=2&postnum=1

I'm pretty consistent on my views.

btw what does link suppose to mean? I not doubting you at all.

You questioned my consistency. My thoughts haven't changed on the matter. As others have said in here, wanting an "____Killer" is not only wishful thinking, but unecessary.

That's all I'm saying.

Oh boy, where to start.

Firstly, your criticism of his "unprofessional" announcement that EA are crafting a Halo-killer is misunderstanding what this really is - it's PR... it's meant to sound challenging in order to generate buzz for a title and subsequently push sales. There's nothing malicious or unprofessional about it at all; if anything, it's actually a compliment to Bungie since it's a tacit acknowledgement of how good their FPS franchise is.

Secondly, no one said anything about "killing off" the competition, i.e. to categorically put an end to a rival franchise. The term "X-killer" merely refers to dethroning the current top dog. I suspect that, when you realised your first post in this thread was, as Xxain observed, ironic/inconsistent in light of your usual pro-competition attitude, you tried to re-define EA's statement as though it were in fact some piece of zealous aggression rather than the natural developer-vs-developer rivalry that it really is.

Lastly, your suggestion that "X-killers" are unnecessary and that the most a developer should aspire to be is "stiff competition" is absolutely risible. If no one were trying to advance genres and surpass each other's efforts then the videogame industry would never evolve and new benchmarks would never be set.

I'm sure you'll stick to your guns and continue to spin EA's statement as them being "out-of-order meany-meanies", but we both know it's just healthy competition and ambition broadcasted for a bit of publicity and hype, so save it.

Nah Final Fantasy is a Halo killer.

Has any game that has ever claimed to be a (insert game) killer ever even come close to meeting that statement?

Just stating that your making a game killer is extremely un-classy. No good developer ever says their making a whatever killer, they can always stand behind their game without having to compare it to others.

@SSj12

lol crysis better than Halo, ok buddy.

Also for being the most hyped PC exclusive game in years Crysis didn't really sell that well. Halo PC released 3 years after the xbox version and it still sold pretty well.

most hyped in years?

*looks at Orange Box*

*looks at Battlefield: Bad Company 2*

*Looks at StarCraft 2*

*looks at Diable 3*

*Looks at WoW:WotLK*

I laugh at your statement now. hahaha haha he he hahaha hehe hahaha.

And since when did sales mean better? Halo is generic garbage. If you ever noticed the best games are normally niche titles.

How have you been here long enough to make 12,000 posts, but fail to realize labelling something as "generic garbage" is 100% pure trolling? Of course, it could be that you don't care.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

Not uncommon to see competitors say that their product will be better than the competitions.

He's one of those blind PC supporters that thinks his PC is a god and everything else is trash and never gets banned because he was a former mod.

Well, I reported him, so we can see what happens. Of course, if nothing does, it wouldn't be the first time mods on this site have turned their head the other way or buried their heads in the sand.

oh come on, don't attack SSJ12 =S he is right HALO ON PC isn't that good, the XBOX version is better because it offers better controls than the PC version, atleast in my opinion.

There is a difference between saying Halo isn't good and explaining why you feel that way, and simply labelling it as "generic garbage." I don't think you could argue that people have been banned for less than that.

I love how "generic" is applied to almost every game that sells extremely well, but nobody ever explains why it's generic.

Halos story is pretty generic though. I will say that, but I really liked Halo 3! :D

and I give credit to Halo 1 for being the bomb for its time. But it was too short with a crap story.

...Halo 2 I will say is a generic piece of CRAP!

I liked Halo Wars, and I still need to play ODST. Hopefully it is as good as Halo 3.
