Actually Sony doesn't call their new PS3 model Slim...

No? What do they call it then? Slime?

Sooooo, cheaper with new processor and graphics card means lower quality graphics and processor than Phatbox. So does that mean Slimbox can't play Phatbox games, only Natal games specifically designed with the Slimbox architecture in mind?

Sounds like the dumbest idea MS could possibly have. Especially if it's at $299. Now a $149 sku along these lines might sell, but it's still a bad idea.

So it's an idea within the realms of possibility for Pachter to have, but not one that is likely to ever see actual realisation in the marketplace.

Child please... Do not take the technical information spoken by a financial analyst as gospel. You'll only get hurt and you'll lose your job and your children will get kicked out of their prestigious private acadamy because you couldn't pay the bill. They'll hate you forever and so will your wife because you believed some technical speculation from a financial analyst was accurate.

P.S. What he means is new silicon same basic architecture but cheaper to manufactur, like for instance GPU+CPU on the same die which saves costs as the manufacturing cost for one combined is about the same as two of them previously.

P.P.S. Kantie panties are available for you to give your wife/mother for Mothers Day.

Yeah, point taken. It's that "different" word what threw me. If he'd said redesigned / shrunk or whatever the right techo lingo is for the slimming process then all would be well understood. Seems to me that Pachter might be pretty close on the pricing of an auto-bundled 360 slim + Natal. But then again it might be $50 less if MS are willing to take a small loss on each unit sold to drive early sales.

And BTW Pachter, Sony doesn't call it the Slim, only everyone else does. And likely everyone other than MS will call the size reduced 360 "Slim" too. Though I quite like "Diet 360" it has a much healthier ring to it.

It went from "PLAYSTATION 3"

to... "PlayStation 3"

That's pretty much it...

You just want to sue them for trademark infringement, don't you SLIMEbeast?

You ever seen a Sony add for PS3 with the word "Slim" in it? Even most retailer flyers/ads don't use "Slim" anymore.

So really MS has the chance to own the "Slim" name this gen and if Sony ever do release another, slimmer version of the PS3 that they intended to officially call the "PS3 Slim" it'll be them who has to come up with a new term.

Still, since Sony has used "Slim" for PS2 (did they call the slim PS1 a Slim I can't remember?) I guess MS probably sees the term as carrying with it a certain Sony taint even if it hasn't been formally used this gen.  Didn't stop them from co-opting the LBP unofficial theme music though .

Can't use "Lite" either because of it's DSness.

The nail which stands up is the first to be hammered down. BTW, they could always call it the 'Cheap' as thats not been taken by any competing products. Xbox 360 Cheap!!! Yes! That works so well.
