Defintly take this guy's advice, a great device with a great game aka Mario & Luigi Bowsers inside story.

Gold is better.

I would also recommend checking out the great DSI games on the system many are only a couple of bucks.

Seeing as you're a Final Fantasy fan (well, I'm going to assume you are judged by your avatar and sig ) I think you'll be pleased with the great RPGs on the little system that could.

I disagree with waiting for 3DS, something you can't buy at least another year.

If you're into traditional rpg, get Strange Journey.
It's quite difficult at times with any regular group of monsters able to oh-ko you.

I don't know, that was stupid of me considering its better than all the games I listed (cept for FF4/DQ5).

I guess its been too loooooong.
