that is really good news, i was a little worried about it. I'm not sure exactly what SMG1's shipment was but i think it was a similar number to that.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

I don't know what SMG's first shipment was, but it sold 260,993(VGC numbers) units in Japan in it's first week.

I'm surprised that it is that high too. I think there is a pretty good chance the game does does better in the West than SMG 1, but I'm expecting much smaller numbers in Japan, I was thinking maybe only ~500k total. Sequels in Japan just don't seem to do that well a lot of the time, and I think with NSMB Wii Japan already has the Mario game they want.

I expected a bit less, but hopefully this does better then the first one.

Maybe Japan doesn't like hub worlds and this will do better.

Nintendo still doomed?

You know this statement is far from stupidity! Japan already do love 2D Mario games, with the classic map and the absence of hub world it might have help some Japanese to make up their minds.

Maybe!

The exclusion of a hub world will probably have little effect on this game's total sales. Any issues people had with navigating the hubworld are issues inherent to the nature of 3D Mario. Removing the hubworld will not change that.

Allowing novice players to be guided through levels, however, could impact its sales.

Hopefully this game bombs. Not just in Japan, but also in the rest of the world. Selling only five million copies worldwide would teach Nintendo a lesson.

Why would you like it to bomb?

Why are you trusting a person with a Kim Possible avatar?
