The deal M$ made with Konami most likely killed Substance for the PS3, that and it would have probably been too expensive to revisit MGS4 while working on new projects.
Maybe we'll see a Substance version on this year's E3 with PSMove and/or Natal support.

I can bet anything that if there was no region lock and PSN IDs were used as well as the use of the PS store for content right off the bat (they integrated it way too late), there would be way more players. However, Konami also need to get off their lazy bums and be more vigilant on banning cheaters. It would be easier if it had a recording system similar to Uncharted 2.

I've read that quote by Kojima that he maxed out a Blu-ray and had to compress the sound to make MGS4 fit but when I had yellow dog Linux on my PS3 I could look at the size of each BD and MGS4 was "only" 30GB. Double sided BDs are 50 GB. Still a great game!
If your interested here are some other sizes
MW2 = 7.2 GB
MGS4 = 30 GB
infamous = 6.9 GB
Batman AA = 6.6 GB

Get as much MGS fans on 360 as possible before Rising releases.

One disc for each act and one extra for MGO? Sounds about right.
