In fact, sometimes on the weekend after say a game of co-op/versus on the PS3/360, we'd then play a game on the Wii (Wii Sports, Boom Blox, Wii Play, NSMB. Wii). Just having a great time together. That's what I like, simply playing games for fun. |
Trust me, it is like Rubang said. Everyone is either Halo/Gears/COD with nothing else in between. I am literally one of 3 boys who own the Wii and actually y'know, play it. I have been told Nintendo doesn't make videogames anymore for Pete's sake. Also, once the Wii is mentioned, the guys wave their arms around like mad and say 'retard'. Plus, my student body has a rule not to buy Japanese games except for Pokemon.
At my local Gamestop, NO EMPLOYEE knows anything about the Wii library. I looked for Monster Hunter on the shelf, it wasn't there. Turns out it was in storage in the back of the store. I see customers walk in mentioning what genre they are looking to buy a Wii game from, and the guy behind the counter has a wave of disgust come over his face. Truly appaling. They almost died trying to get me to preorder that underwhelming Bioshock 2 though. Good thing I rented that.
Overall, games around here are fun when they are not on Wii. Wii games drop IQ numbers.
As for gaming dying, I didn't come up with that idea, my brother did. He does not look up gaming websites or any of that, but he knows what is going on. He attributes Nintendo with the growth although they "sold their souls to the devil to do it". Satoru Iwata acknowledged that gaming is shrinking, even though it is not exclusively because of the idea I presented in the OP.
