Forums - Microsoft - Official Alan Wake Launch Trailer. Wow. Absolute Wow. GOTY?

Arguing over GOTY rewards is pointless since every video game publication and website has their own individual GOTY's.

Around the Network

Zelda, The Last Guardian?, Halo, LBP2, Super Mario Galaxy 2, and many more coming....

It's going to be tough year for the early games.

I never said it was going to win GOTY, and um idk ask god of war which won game of the year in 2005, and ask God of war II which won PS2 game of the year in 2007.

2005 was easilty RE4 and gow2 had no competition in 2007 from the ps2

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!!!

Hey well I wasn't the one doing any attacking. I was just merely pointing out Selnor said something that contradicts his previous post.

Selnor: Game of the Year 2005 according to IGN: http://bestof.ign.com/2005/overall/25.html

Spike Award for Game of the year 2005: Resident Evil 4

Metacritic's PS2 Game of the Year 2007: http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ps2/godofwar2

Yeah, I could continue on, but I think you've been owned more than enough already.

*sigh*

The guage for GOTY is IAA. Interactive Achievement Award. It is also the only award recognised by Wiki. Halo 2 had 84 GOTY nominations from outside media hence winning the title. as well as winning Excellence in Audio at the Game Developers Choice Awards. All 2005.

You just got owned mate. Highly.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halo_2

Love the way you used review media or spike lol for GOTY. Little point. Games like Half Life 2 or Halo have IAA awards. Not media awards. Have you ever watched Spike. It's laughable. Heck they gave GTA4 GOTY. How bad was that event. Unbearable.

You just owned yourself right there by mentioning the IAA. LMAO.

Here's the link... seriously.  You really don't read anything. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interactive_Achievement_Award#Game_of_the_Year

Look at the year 2005.  Now see the point I was making.

Yep, a Hack and Slash game like God of War can win Game of the Year.  ^_-

Also, notice how Halo 2 is nowhere to be found in the "overall game of the year" category. (lol)

Nice way to put your own foot in your mouth, Selnor. :D

Resident Evil and Silent Hill just got owned me thinks.

This game looks good, but comparing it to Silent Hill should be punishable by law. No game will EVER be deeper or have a greater meaning than Silent Hill 2.
Besides, to me it looks like an action game, not a horror game. That's all fine and good, but Silent Hill (at least 1 and 2, never played the rest) are pure dread. No intense action, there's never any real payoff or "cinematic" moments, but it's the simple, pure, uncensored horror.

GOTY...Just like Metro 2033, Mass Effect 2, Splinter Cell Conviction, Halo: ODST, Forza 3, bla bla bla.

Selnor, please, please, all you need to do is being OBJECTIVE, when you've a year with games like

Mass Effect 2
Red Dead Redemption
Alan Wake
Halo Reach
Gran Turismo 5
God Of War 3
Heavy Rain
Call Of Duty
Etc.
Etc.
Etc.

there's NO WAY POSSIBLE that someone can tell which game will be GOTY, if you want to call ANY 360 Console Exclusive out there GOTY, fine, but please, PLEASE! WE DON'T CARE ABOUT IT! You just create FLAMEWARS FOR GODSAKE!

Please re-read OP. YOu look rather silly.

Selnor, using Wiki, i went to the IAA thingy page.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interactive_Achievement_Awards#Game_of_the_Year

It says that 2005... God of War won the award.

2004: Half Life 2
2005: God of War
2006: Gears of War
2007: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
2008: Little Big Planet
2009: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Actually... Halo: Combat Evolved is the only Halo game to get an overall GotY award from them. Halo 3 was bested by CoD 4.

My apologies. Seriously. The event held in 2005 was for 2004 GOTY which Halo 2 won. ( I guess it makes sense considering Halo 2 came out Nov 2004 ). So yeah sorry dude. God OF War did win in 2006 ( which was for 2005 GOTY ).

But as usual fanboys will miss this post ( or ignore it to there own means ). Thanks for showing me the post. I guess I just forgot that 2005 was for 2004 GOTY. LOL.

Really selnor? So all those reviewers that said GOW III is an easy GOTY contendor never happened?

Oh yeah. You took those serious? When has a hacker ever won GOTY?

Resi 4 did. Oblivion did. But a hacker game never has. I kinda assumed they were being nice.

But still my comment was based purely on the comments from reviewers. Not the graphics or trailer itself.
