FF7 increase means that FF 6 was a success and that FF7 was very anticipated.

FF 8's lower sales means that FF 7 was a failure and FF8 wasn't hitting a sweet spot

FF 9's lower sales means that FF 8 was a failure and that FF 9 wasn't hitting a sweet spot

rinse repeat and you have a justification for that slope.

Really now?

Does that mean that Pokemon Red/Blue/Green were failures as well?

I don't know, were they?

Considering that Silver/Gold sold 3 million units less than Red/Blue/Green, they were, according to your formula, of course.

And if you insist that, since RBG are three games while SG are two, i'll just bring Ruby/Sapphire into the equation.

Hm, I don't know who you think I am to insist on anything.

I just wanted to see what you think I'm thinking, because you aparrantly are in my head.

Now that I know what you think I think, I can say you should stop thinking because your wrong.

So, since you don't try to prove me wrong, and only try to be smart and spin it, I assume that you understand that sales for a sequel can be lower that the prequel, even if the prequel was a very good game.

I have no reason to prove you wrong when your posing your beliefs as fact. I can't prove beliefs wrong and since it's beliefs I would be teaching you and I am no teacher instead I made nice little refferences to a certain author of Macroeconomics texts for you to go check out in my other post. Yes that was considerate of me and your welcome for that.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

Final Fantasy XIII wouldn't have sold any better on PS2. The downward trend for this series started almost a decade ago with a huge decline on the mighty PS2.

PSX

Final Fantasy VII --- 3.277.766
Final Fantasy VIII --- 3.501.588
Final Fantasy IX --- 2.707.301

PS2

Final Fantasy X --- 2.325.215
Final Fantasy X-2 --- 1.960.937
Final Fantasy XII --- 2.322.541

WHAT

where are you getting these numbers from?

our site disagrees

I believe those numbers are from Famitsu.

They may not include budget / international releases (or whatever else), though. Would be nice if someone could clarify

I'm slightly confused, there's no way FF10's international edition gave it 700K + sales

Either they are overtracked or I dunno.

um, do you people know what flop is???? a mil or more sales is not flop. Conduit hasnt manage to sell half a mil to date. that is flop. IMO if you cant sell at least half a mil you have flopped

I can see the new trend now. XX - international version , then XX - complete Version, then XX- Ultimate sexy edition, XX - I told you there will be more eddition.... now here comes the 10 millions sales edition.

I'm sorry but if you think anything below 500K is a flop for any given game even you don't know what flop means.

@darthdevidem01

It is Famitsu data, I didn't add bargain or international editions for a fair comparison.

Final Fantasy X sold over 3 million counting all version so it is tracked well here.

Final Fantasy X --- 2,323,463
Final Fantasy X International --- 240,940
Final Fantasy X (Mega Hits!) --- 199,429
Final Fantasy X (Ultimate Hits) --- 179,959
Final Fantasy X International (ULTIMATE) --- 47,676
Final Fantasy X/X-2 (Ultimate Hits) --- 25,784

Total --- 3,017,251.

I wouldn't expect high sales for the hypothetical Final Fantasy XIII International Edition, at best it would match the sales of Final Fantasy XII International Zodiac Job System (137,040).

BY flop I was meaning more disappointng. im sure it made proft in japan.

perhaps its a flop for all the hype.

Well, Japan is all about the handhelds now - so maybe a 3DS FF would regain the series's popularity :)
