I created this thread as a dedication to all the Mexicans out here. This is also for every non Hispanic here. Thought about creating this because of what happened with Arizona. The U.S state to have signed one of the toughest immigration laws. So now any police officer that suspects someone is illegal can be asked to show proper identification. The problem, how does an illegal look like? Does it look like me?

For the record, I'm a Mexican living in Arizona and I'm very happy about this law.

The only people that need to be concerned are people breaking the law. If a cop needs to see my ID its probably because I did something wrong. Obviously they aren't going ID everybody just for having brown skin. Just the people that are suspicious.

Really? I'm in doubt. Please copy and transfer digitally proof of identification. I.D or birth certificate proving your nationality. Makes me doubt, since you wouldnt mind this at all? Cops will abuse them, not all but some of them. How would you like being stalked on? So your parents didnt come here illegally? No one in your whole family? If you say no then whatever be hushed. What if one of your family was illegal, you wouldnt mind on bit huh? FYI, Mexicans are also white!

You aren't a cop, you are just some kid on teh interweb. I don't see the big deal of showing a cop your ID though. I'm more annoyed I have to show my ID to purchase a mature vidya game.

Actually my mom came here legally. My dad was born here. I don't think I have any family that's here illegally, they all manged to come here legally. People not breaking the law have nothing to worry about.

I have sympathy for the people that have to go back to Mexico. But they are breaking the law and its unfair to people that do try to come legally.

Hahaha okay sure. If you say so.

there are 460,000 people in Arizona that break the law every day, and the police have no mechanism to stop them. They will once this law gets put into place.

Here is an example of what needs fixed. Let's say a cop stops a car for speeding. When he gets to the car, the man does not speak english, has no drivers license, no proof of insurance, and is extremely nervous. Today, it's against the law for that officer to ask if that man is in this country illegally. The best he can do is give the man a ticket for driving without a license.

That needs to change. Why should a cop not be allowed to ask someone if they are breaking the law? This law is to fix that.

Why people think cops are now going to be breaking into peoples homes and beating them to death because they are brown, is beyond me.

Unfortunately, people show loyalty to their ethnicity and not their nationality. I'm glad they are atleast protesting peacefully...

Do Mexicans associate more with the indigenous people of Central America, or the colonists from Spain?

Both?

From a quick look at wikipedia 13% are Amerindians, 17% are White and 70% are Mestizo (mixed native and European decent)

It depends, my on the skin. Most brown to light use brown pride, while my sisters who are white and some other relatives feel more white, though we share Spaniard beliefs, and idk what exactly u mean with associate.

Would "identify" be a better word?

Yes. Well in that case we do not see ourselves as indians in any way. The word "aztec" is barely mention ever in our household or family. Seeing how we are a skin diverse family, there is a mix of that. First my brother who is darker than all of us (light brown but by standards compared to others, he is darker) he tends to use the phrase "brown pride" and sometimes refers to himself as a proud Aztec. But he is the only one, otherwise the rest of us with very light brown to white skin can associate better as Spaniard though we still enjoy Mexican customs. Mexico is a changing world, and really the only thing we associate with the aztecs is the blend of their food with Spanish food. But really its more like in the middle, its the blend of Aztec or even Mayan and Spain. But ask my white sisters well they are against colored people who are darker than them, like me lolz.
