Forums - Nintendo - Super Mario Galaxy 2 STORYLINE announced in press release!!

Story gets the job done. What excites me the most is Yoshi and the new coop mode.  The rock and cloud suits should be cool too.  It reminds me of the sky sections of SMB3, only this time you control the clouds!

I hope after this they make another Super Mario Sunshine.

God nintendo sure lack originality, same dull story over and over.

Criticizing Mario for having the same plot over and over again is like criticizing a documentary about bumblebees for lacking high-speed car chase scenes. Nobody plays Mario for the story and nobody watches documentaries about bumblebees for high-speed car chase scenes.

Remember in Mario 64 there were no entry cinematic, nothing. They don't lack originality, it's just Mario. Zelda and Metroid have far more deepness in their stories.

because Zelda and Metroid have oscar worthy stories...

So Uncharted does? A story with tons of stereotypes

Yes, Zelda and Metroid have really good stories and I don't feel the need of a story in Mario games, all I need is to play and have fun. Some games are designed like that.

Then, how on Earth is that so important to have a deep storyline for that game? The first one showed there is no need.

When did I ever mention Uncharted? They all have trash storylines compared to some of the better movies...Uncharted through is a better written story than either M or Zelda. That said it's still no Oscar caliber story...not even close.

So what's the point with your random post?

And the rest is nonsense.

For the sake of the visually impaired I have bolded and enlarged the portions of previous comments that my post was a response to...

Of course if you want to argue about those games having storylines that are at a similar level to good film storytelling then we have discussion.

Dude , Uncharted story is basic what i would expect from a indy movie , and that is good , but how can you say that the story in uncharted is better than written than the one in Other M if other M is not released yet ...just for it you argue is all ready fail ... also the best video game story ever told , despite its simple narrative and basic cinematics  is  the one in Zelda ocarina of Time , you can cry over it , but its true ... if you imagine that story being told with a todays narrative you will indeed have a Oscar caliber story.

Man, Nintendo needs to bring Mario back to the heights of storytelling. Ok, get this...

Peach sends Mario a letter, which takes about 1 minute to read. A green tube comes up from the ground, and Mario Jump out!!! You walk around and head up to the castle. Lakitu comes by and tells you can control the camera. You go into the castle, Bowser laughs at Mario, and toad tells him all the power stars are in the paintings.

The whole story is over in like 3 minutes.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

Okay, guys I was just kidding, you can argue, just make sure there's no blood flying around

this reminds me of a youtube spambot posting "Hey guys, I watched the FULL movie here at imadouchebag.com/mario and you can too!" on the SMG2 trailer

uncharted 2 has over 30 "oscars" i'm sure one of them is about the story.

Being in 3rd place never felt so good

And yet the story isn't astonishing.

The game was pretty good, I concede you. I played about 7 hours a row.
