Forums - Nintendo - SMG price cut?

I wish Nintendo would price-cut ALL of their games.
Why is Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, Twilight Princess, etc. all 49.99$?!

It's friggin' ridiculous, and DS titles (looking at you Mario Kart DS) that are close to being 6 years old, are STILL $35~40.

That's the biggest beef I have this gen with Nintendo. They will NEVER EVER cut prices for their exclusives, but their third-party shit (some of which is good, i.e. NMH, Zach and Wiki) is cut after a few months.

Another reason why I'm waiting to pick up NMH 2, because I'm sure in about six months I'll be able to buy it and Red Steel 2 for 30 bucks.

pffft. Nintendo never cuts the price of their games. Really annoying actually and one of the reasons I like the PS3 as I can count on significant discounts a couple of months later. I just bought BatmanAA for $20 off of Ebay due to its lower retail pricing. Twilight Princess, a MUCH older game, still costs ~$30 on ebay.

The only thing you are right here is the part where you said nintendo don't cut price, yes they don't, they release player choices instead.

It's probable that nintendo don't release a Player Choice this year, but we will have to wait.

And your example is wrong because Batman AA is a third party game, and third party wii games have price cuts.

Well, maybe they do that for the reason you just described - people waiting to buy the games only after huge price drops. That's probably not good for them (profit-wise)

ok, well, GOW3 has already dropped almost $15 new and ZeldaTP is still full price new in retailers. Is that a better example?

Also, I have yet to see 'players choice' for wii, where as PS3's greatest hits comes out fairly quickly.

However, as noted elsewhere, this might have more to do with the fact that PS360 games start out $10 higher and thus make more revenue upfront with the majority of sales happen.

Nintendo is the only company I will willing pay full price for a game every time. I would think they would in time, but it is such a great game I do not see a reason to.

Even the best of the best should get a price cut over time. Saying that it's okay for Nintendo to keep their prices high while implying that everyone else has to cut prices over time implies that Nintendo-made games are of some godly quality that is unattainable by anyone else.

There are plenty of high-quality games on all platforms that go down in price over time, so I don't buy the Nintendo-fan line of "it's worth it" by virtue of the game being made by Nintendo. While they develop excellent games, Nintendo doesn't have magical properties that make their games inherently better and more worthwhile than other highly regarded games. I know Iwata has spoken on this subject before, but I don't buy his reasoning at all.

So because somone else does Nintendo should? That makes sense.... You do not need to buy any lines As I said it is the only company I will ever pay full price for everytime. Because you have  different taste is not my problem nor does it affect my choice or opinion of my favorite gaming company. Everyone throws around Fanboy and Troll so much they are no longer insults of any sort. I am a Fan and I am Male ok so?

It is not Nintendos fault other companies drop thier prices sometimes rather quickly. Many people including myself have waited out getting certain games because we know it will be $20-$30 dollars cheaper soon. While I buy day 1 many times, it is pretty much only  games I find of high interest and by a company who I feel put a lot of good effort into them. Hence Nintendo is the only one I always will for. It is about taste along with the trust of said company to make it worth my $50

@Games4Fun: Of course someone who buys Nintendo releases day one has no problem with games staying at $50 forever. If you buy them upon release, what difference does it make if they stay at full price?

As a recent Wii owner though, I'm avoiding older Wii first party releases because I'm simply unwilling to pay full price for games that are 3-4 years old. Then again, maybe I'm just spoiled by other companies who drop the prices of even their best selling games over time.

They seriously need to cut the price of games after a while, like the Greatest Hits on 360 and Platinum on PS3, it makes sense for consumers and especially when games have sold 8-10 million or more. It truly is annoying that getting the older catalog of games when getting your new consoles will be as expensive as buying new games.

I do not always buy day 1 when I finally got my Wii I bought Super Paper Mario, Smash Bros, Super Mario Galaxy, and Mario Kart Wii. I got my Wii right around Mario Kart came out. A few I would still like such as Animal Crossing, Links crossbow training, Warioware Smooth Moves, all 3 I will willing pay full price  once I find a NEW copy. Also pay full price for many 3rd party games, but I am much more willing to wait for them to drop in price because I am certain they will and I tend to get less use of them even the one I really like.

I do not care if Nintendo drops a price on a older game one way or the other. To me they are easyily worth the $50 I pay for them. To others not so much, but that is opinion. I am sorry if somone misses out on such a good game, but that is not  Nintendos problem atleast to a point. Same as it is no other companies problem if I happen to miss out on a game I would like, but did not want to pay the asking price. Upsetting if you just now got a Wii? I can see that. But it does not change what I think my friend.

Don't know if it is a temporary thing but some retailers have Mario Galaxy at a lower price 33 dlls in Walmart at least in his webpage , but yeah Nintendo always makes this, even at this point used games are at high price because of nintendo, at least 10 dlls less would make a difference
