Forums - Microsoft Discussion - “Natal is challenging because it’s so different,” says Molyneux

The only thing I've heard from the gadget show about Natal was how amazing it was.

If Natal is truly challenging because it's so different then I fully expect bad software and tons of it. The Wii being so different to develop for has been a major challenge to 3rd parties this generation. The Cell architecture being so different to develop for has been an often spoken of challenge for 3rd parties this generation. A lot of 3rd parties don't seem very good at doing things in vastly different ways than they have before.

The title of this thread and bad software seem to go hand in hand.

You get bad software everywhere.
If it was easy to develop for then lazier less talented devs would release turd after turd for it.
In the digital age bad software is like death and taxes to real life.

Did any one watch the gadget show on channel five the other day, they had this fighting game for natal on it, it was awful.

I seriously doubt it was a Natal game.  I haven't heard anything about it.

You in the US? Think it will only work in the UK because it's five on demand.

That is probably it. Thanks for the heads up though.

I watched it fine and yeah, Kung Fu Live looks pretty bad but I can't see that being a proper game, looks more like a demo?

Kung Fu Live is not Natal: http://gadgetynews.com/kung-fu-live-puts-you-in-the-gaming-action/

he only says that because he never worked on the EyeToy.

Yeah, because the Eyetoy has done full body motion capture all this time so Mr. M doesn't know what he is talking about. Look at all the games that were made for the Eyetoy up to this point that does everything that Natal will do and do it perfectly.

it does motion capture and it did body to a certain extend but of course that was way back in 2004-

full motion capture have been done for years, in games, that's how animations are recorded.

it require tons of cameras and "balls" to be precise, that's why many believe they is going to be certain bugs in natal.

things like fingers, and certain lag won't be fixed so easy. it will be present in the final design, but helped by software

Thats not on the fly motion camera control though. What your talking about isnt mine and your motion contorlling a camera in full body.

In fact they are not even similar. You will find Natal games where the developer hasnt even done any animation for the main character. AKA Riccochet.
