Rofl at the idea that this is for altruistic environmental reasons. Gonna pass on the savings to the consumer eh, Ubisoft? Nah, didn't think so. I like paper manuals, and proper DVD cases thanks.

What the hell, why would they pass down any savings. Most of these companies are struggling quarter to quarter in an industry we all, supposedly, love and youre bitching about a couple of cents in your wallet? Wow, talk about overflow of unnecessary bitterness and misplaced angst for some reason.

On topic, good move. Less trees getting destroyed the better.

This is awesome. Instead of paper, which can only have text and diagrams, you can have a virtual manual with video demos for all the special moves or whatever. This can make instructions much easier to navigate, and show instructions in motion.

LOL, you just kind of proved his post correct.

Ubisoft are just trying to get more money, but they're covering it up by saying it's for the environment.

Also I would watch that tounge of yours, not a good idea to launch attacks on mods

Oh give me a break, mod my ass, hes a poster just like us i did nothing out of line, stop trembling based on peoples screen name colors.

I didnt prove his post correct, i know Ubisoft is doing it to save money, however, im not gullible enough at my ripe old age of 24 to not understand that regardless of motivations, if a large company does something to benefit the environemt, all that matters is teh action and not the motivation.

That said, i would much rather, as a gamer, see these companies take initiatives that are not only environmentally friendly, but can save some money so they keep making games and keep developers employed. But thats just me.

Sad but inevitable.

I will always remember the excitement of opening up a new game as soon as I got into the car and reading the manual on the way home. Good memories.

I did the same thing when I was younger.

But other than that I really didn't look back at manuals.

Niiice, so just because you know why they're doing this, makes it justified to rip the consumer off? and yes that's what they're doing, Offering less a product than they would be for the same price as competitors. Irregardless if you think a manual is worth anything to you, it is to some.

That goes for me and machina too, except we don't want to be fed a load of BS. Not to mention the impact will be so minimal, there are far better ways for them to help the environment within the actual workplace.

Seriously though, why are you getting so worked up?

Just responding. Not getting worked up, sorry if my times new roman font came off angry

Well you bring up a lot of points that will take us off topic, but if you truly believe youre getting ripped off by not receiving a paper manual then i have no words to say. It probably costs roughly 3 cents to make, based on the cost of paper/ink for mass printing.

Secondly, im well aware there are far more important things that can be done company wide. This thread isnt an environmental aware corperation thread monitoring their eco-friendly habits and carbon footbprint, it is simply an announcemnet of a positive thing, thus i commented.

Seece, you have over 5,000 posts, i see them around, i know youre picking a fight because of the red 3 letters under my name, but honestly we have been through too many NPD announcements, stupid Kutagari, Greenberg quotes to not understand how PR works. So please, spare me the argument for arguments sake, go ahead and write your congressman for your extra 3 cents on ubisoft titles and just take it for what it is, its  apositive thing for the environment.

@ Seece

I don't see how they're ripping of consumers, as they're not getting any less of a product. You may not get the same physical content, but you're still getting the manual, and the manual being digital opens up new possibilities (as Rubang suggested).

I don't read the instructions for anything, you should see my IKEA bookcases, I think they were supposed to be beds.

Really though, I don't read them, but I really like having them, it's all part and parcel of the game experience. It's sad that we're really moving on from physical stuff, I'll adapt, but a part of me will always be an old-school guy that wants his stuff to touch.
