Well I know they manage it in Australia (and apparantly Canada too according to Clegg). Presumably Visas will be granted based on the area where the job is actually requiring that skill or perhaps more so that the area in question can actually accommodate more immigration. The incentive to stay is that they have a job there and according to Clegg won't be allowed to work elsewhere.

A cap on immigration would be a nightmare, especially if international students were included in this. It could be financial ruin for universities.

But "students" on visas are one of the main immigraton problems.  Brown himslef said he expects 40,000 less this year.  40,000!!! in one year.

Oh I agree and 40,000 less in one is shocking but were talking about bogus students there. If genuine students were prevented from coming here because of caps then many universities would be crippled.

Brown not coming across well I think - looks terrible smiling when not talking and seems to be repeating old messages

Clegg not too bad - looking to not seem to close to either Brown / Cameron at this point

Cameron - relying on looks, keeping calm and letting Brown slip us (As Kow noted) so far as I can see. Sounding sensible.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Law and Order

Cameron: Reduce beureaucracy and get police on the beat

Clegg: as cameron, plus educate ferrel youths?

Brown: No problem, police are now on the street enough (where!?), parents need to get a grip.

Brown hasnt got a clue here, Cameron and Clegg seem to agree.

Cameron and Clegg draw, Brown loses.

I'm sensing a pattern in Brown's responses, apparently everything is fine in all areas!

Police on the beat is always a bit of a populous policy. Extra beat policy don't really prevent crime, the public just think that they are safer. The beureaucracy needs to go along with ridiculous targets so that police can get on with their job and deal with crime as they see fit without the worry of having to make 'quick' cases just to hit targets.

To be fair to Brown he has no choice, he has to balance things by saying everything is pretty much ok but it could be better, otherwise whose fault is it?

But it just means he loses credibility.

Yeah I don't envy his position. If he tries to suggest a way of improving a situation the others just respond with "You've had 13 years to do that and you haven't"

Yeah watching it now. I was a little underwhelmed by the manifesto launches so hopefully tonight will be a little more interesting.

On the first topic, immigration, I'm giving the victory to Nick Clegg.

Brown: Immigration is fine basically.  Doesnt wanty a cap, current rules are beginning to work. bull.

Cameron: Immigration is too high (no shit).  Points system and limits, new countries into EU - transitional limits.  seems ok.  Wants limits and caps.  Border Police force (hallelujah)

Clegg: Chaos at the moment,  monitor exit controls..?!  Immigrants can only go to regions where they can be accomodated.. (terrible idea and untterly unworkable!!!).  There is good immigraton and bad immigration... we need immigrant skills and therefore no caps and carry on.

How the hell can you have regional immigration... allowed in sent to a region... what is to stop them moving... its all one country?

He said regional employment, not regional living didn't he? I think regional employment is a feasible idea.

Are the lib dems the kind of party that would deport peop,e that tried to migrate around the country? is the UK justice system the kind of system that will deport in this instance?  No.  wouldnt work.

My browsers playing up, booo.

Anyway, no regional living wouldn't work. However I think regional employment would. The burden on migrating around the country to live is solely on the immigrant, if they want to do it they will, it will be hard to stop.

With regional employment the law affects the employer as well. Each immigrant has a card that says the region where they are allowed to work (hopefully with a job to go to). If the employer employs someone who is working out of their region then they get punished as well as they immigrant. It would be far easier to monitor and punish.

I think the punishment in regional employment wouldn't solely be on the immigrant.

Clegg is BY FAR coming across as the most sincere, and sensible here.

Brown is undermining himself with petty jibes and trying to buddy with Clegg.

Cameron just seems to be far too evasive and about as petty.

Nick Clegg does really seem sincere in what he is saying and is actually coming across to answer our woe's

Gordon Brown doesn't seem to be on the same footing of Cameroon and Clegg.

Cameroon seems abit Evasive and the response CrazyHorse pointed out doesn't help.

"Life is but a gentle death. Fate is but a sickness that results in extinction and in the midst of all the uncertainty, lies resolve."

5000 million on a war I don't agree doesn't bode well with me.

YES!!

Cameron: Cut MP's by 10%. wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to many MP's now.

Clegg: Allow constituents to sack MP's.... like that too

Brown: eff all. Apart from the same old house of lords red herring, everyone is going to look at this gordon. Brown has had 13 years to sort out the H of L and hasnt... why hasnt he?

I'm fairly sure the Conservatives also proposed that in their manifesto too.

On cutting MP numbers, ok in principle but has to be done very carefully with cross party support as it's open to abuse by the ruling party to redesign constituencies for their own benefit.

Can someone answer my question, when will this so called war end?

"Life is but a gentle death. Fate is but a sickness that results in extinction and in the midst of all the uncertainty, lies resolve."

For us outsiders, which party does each of those in the debate represent?

*edit* I'm assuming:

Brown = Labor

Cameron = LDP

Clegg = Conservative

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
