Then its just confusing in general. I see no reason why VGChartz cannot give explicit U.S. numbers. I suspect the reason for the combination is that it gives a little more fudge factor for the numbers because they can always say the split between the U.S. and Canada/Mexico changes and it differs for different products.

I pointed out above, Canada and South America are definitely more heavily weighted for PS3 this month. Probably not enough to account for the discrepancy entirely but they almost certainly represent more than 87% this month.

Whether or not that is true, it would make a hell of a lot more sense to say U.S.A. + Other America than just lumping them into the one.

I support Squill in the call for by country weekly HW numbers covering the Americas. Just like is done for Others HW - http://www.vgchartz.com/ehweekly.php for the uninitiated. At least break it down by USA, Canada, Mexico and Other America.

It's good that The Source provides an official VGC USA estimate in the OP of the official NPD thread, but why not make an Americas weekly HW breakdown a formal part of this site?

It seems Patcher has been owned once again, but what else is new? I wonder what his newest excuse will be to show that the Wii is doomed?

Judging from the strong PS3 software, Sony really missed an opportunity in dealing with the supply issues this month, and one of their big chances to finally gain some relevancy in the US. Getting beat by 360 when some of your biggest titles all come out is pretty bad, shortages or not.

Kinda stupid that they count the pokemon games as two separate games. I'm curious as to what #10 would have been had they did that.. NSMB Wii showing how much it owns.

The top ten console retail software titles for March 2010 are as follows:

1. God of War III (Sony Santa Monica/SCEA, PS3), 1.10 million
2. Pokemon SoulSilver (Game Freak/Nintendo, NDS), 1.02 million
3. Final Fantasy XIII (Square Enix, PS3), 828,200
4. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (DICE/Electronic Arts, Xbox 360), 825,500
5. Pokemon HeartGold (Game Freak/Nintendo, NDS), 761,200
6. Final Fantasy XIII (Square Enix, Xbox 360), 493,900
7. New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Nintendo, Wii), 457,400
8. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (DICE/Electronic Arts, PS3), 451,200
9. Wii Fit Plus w/ Balance Board (Nintendo, Wii), 429,600
10. MLB 10: The Show (Sony San Diego/SCEA, PS3), 349,200

GOW III Topped March NPD for Single Platforms!!! Totally awesome stuff!!!

Why is NSMBwii on that list! It scares me!

360 beat PS3? ROFL

You are trying way too hard.

LOL You're funny.

I just find it hilarious. I mean, I'm aware of the shortages, but damn, Sony knew these games were coming and should have had some significant stock amounts to prepare for it. The fact that the 360 still won somehow just makes those software heavy hitters look irrelevant.

If you want to see me actually try, I'd get a couple warnings. You want some syrup to go with my ROFLs?

I gotta admit... that's a pretty good one.

It seems the Wii is selling in line with the Wii Fit Plus stock, not the Wii stock.

Currently playing on PS3: God of War III

Currently playing on Xbox360: Final Fantasy XIII

Currently playing on NDS: Chrono Trigger

I guest we can put to rest FFVSXIII going multiplat.

Yup definetely, this has proven PS3 can carry a mainline FF, since it matched FF12's First NPD by itself.

But we would lose MSFT advertisement though. They had commercial everywhere for FXIII.

Ok BUT if it was PS3 Exclusive could have had a Kevin Butler FF13 commercial = MUCH better marketing than what MS gave FFXIII (Kevin Butler >>> Leona Lewis)

So it could have worked in its favour especially cus I'm sure SONY would have marketed it it BIG time

BUT I do think the 360 sales are BIG enough to make sure we never get a exclusive Mainline FF ever again.

I don't see you guys' point here, particularly the discussion on the site about why it makes since to put Splinter Cell: Conviction or Mass Effect 2 on the PS3, when those would get trounced by the X360 version by more than double.

Also, no, Sony won't do an ad for Versus, just like Microsoft didn't do an ad for FF XIII. All they did was pay Square Enix a small fee to slap only their logo on the back end of it. Advertising is performed by the publisher, and the publisher for Final Fantasy XIII is Square Enix.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

I would tend to think that the two are related.
