Graphics Whore Showdown Round 12: MGS4 vs Splinter Cell: Conviction

Metal Gear Solid 4 255 80.44%

Splinter Cell: Conviction 62 19.56%

Total:317

These two games are undoubtetly the finest stealth titles of the generation and have revolutionalzied the genre to make it more engaging, realistic, and overall, more fun (example: MGS4's octocamo and Splinter Cell's mark and execute). Although MGS4 was released two years ago, it still retains its crown as one of the best looking games around. From its slick character models, gorgeous animations, to some of the best weather effects we have seen in a while (The way the snow rests on Snake's body and gently flickers off as he moves is a subtle, yet brilliant visual touch), MGS4 brings the full package. Conviction, on the other hand, boasts of incredible lighting technology (simalarly to previous titles), good-looking environments, top-notch animations and fluid camera work (the mark and execute sequences consist of a nice slow-motion effect where the camera zooms in on Sam and his gun and showcases how the bullet penetrates his enemy's skull). Even though it was made from the Unreal 2 engine, it is undoubetely a beautiful game.

I would like to make a request to all the PS3 and 360 fanboys: Please, for the love of God, do not start a flame war with this thread. This thread is intended not to start a debate between consoles, but instead a civil discussion regarding which of these two incredible games looks better in the graphics department.

So which one of these sneaky bastards takes the crown for the best looking stealth game? YOU DECIDE!

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Splinter Cell: Conviction

I'm not gonna vote cause I've only played Metal Gear... but really, metal gear a few year old, game, it shouldn't be surprising if SC surpasses it.

Let's compare games that are 2 years apart. Yay!

Splinter Cell is the 360 version of UC2.

We may have the short end of the straw here, but sure as hell dont have the short end on the FPS straw.

However, look at the poll.  Considering that Conviction is not on the PS3, it should be no surprise now that MGS4 ends up being said better than Conviction.

The first SC:C isn't ingame? Or atleast it doesn't look it?

And doesn't the game have a HUD? Are the other two ingame? o.O

Seriously, from these screenshots, I can't make heads or tails, since I don't know if they're ingame on SC:C

I haven't played it, or the demo, maybe I'll play the demo and judge myself o.O
