Forums - Nintendo - Worried about Brawl...

The only thing worse than no voice acting is bad voice acting. As long as it is a situation like paper mario where there were hours of text boxes.

Final* Word on Game Delays:

The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.

Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.

Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.

I don't think the game should have much voice acting. Maybe with Snake and a few others who talk a lot in their games, but definitely not more than one-liners for most characters. The cutscenes sort of assume the characters say something to each other, but we just see them nodding in agreement, and I think that works well enough.

ONOZ!!!

Voice acting is not timeless.  Video gaming icons are.

Due to the above, permanently associating a voice actor with a character can have poor consequences in the long-term (such as when the VA passes away).

Given how ultra cheesy most game dialogue is I'd rather the whole game remained quiet from a voice perspective. I mean did you hear Sonic in his intro movie? Made me cringe.

There are very few exceptions to this rule. Half-Life 1, HK-47's dialogue from KOTOR, Operation: Flashpoint off the top of my head. It doesn't mean a lot of games suck, just means I think some would be a lot better off if they went the Shadow of the Colossus route. One of the things that made it so epic and beautiful was its silence.

The cutscenes are just breaks to move the action along. Expecting a great storyline out of this is like expecting a great storyline out of SMG. It's simply not going to happen and you shouldn't really care...

I actually really enjoyed the background story in Galaxy.  For thos who don't know what I am talking about, check out the library on the obsurvatory.

Diddy can speak English. and SMG was my favorite Mario game story wise. Paper Mario had the best story IMO.

and I think some characters like Fox should talk in the cut-scenes. But it should only be like one sentence. He should have told Diddy "Follow me" or something in that video. I would have been fine with that and I'm sure other people would be too.

also, since characters have 3 taunts, they could say something there too.

Did they talk in Melee? No...

The Fire Emblem boys did.  Peach, Fox and Falco had a few shorts.

Everyone is buying Brawl for the multiplayer fighting, not the storyline, that's a bonus. Who cares if there's no voice-acting?

Smash Brothers has a storyline!? And here I thought it was totally pointless with dolls/figures being brought to life just to fight.

On that note, I'm just for beating the crap out of each other with friends.
