Unfortunately I'm really new to the genre, but RE4 springs to mind. Although Dead Space is a fantastic game as well. And I hope to god that Alan Wake jumps in there when it releases.

I would like to point out that I omitted RE5, because as many people have said it's not much for a survival horror game. Even though it was my personal 2009 GOTY. Condemned gets honorable mention here though, what a freakfest that was!

I'm terrible at survival horror. The closest thing I have to a favorite in the genre is Eternal Darkness, and that's not really "survival horror" so much as it's just "horror".

I would have to say , Left for Dead 1 and 2, and Bioshock 1 and 2 , I have not played any Silent Hills, but I hear they are working on a new one, so I may have to check out

Luigi's Mansion. lol.
