I can't complain about the cosplay.

My wife dressed up as Shanoa from Order of Ecclesia last year.

Yesssssssssss

You... she... wha?

Shanoa? The Shanoa? Not the lame Castlevania Judgment one, but the Ecclesia Shanoa?

...

I'm not entirely sure on the best way to put this, but your wife is awesome.

(Bonus points if you were Albus)

Yes, that Shanoa.

She wanted me to go as Albus, but didn't have time to make the costume herself.

She did have time to make Flint and Hinawa from Mother 3, though, so we also went as those two.

I think the problem with the game industry, is there are too many sequels and not a lot of new IPs.
Almost every game now has number after it and some sequels come one year after its predecessor.

Hmm, looking at all these votes for this gen being the best, I can only come to 1 conclusion. Most of the people voting for that this gen is the best must not have been around for the 16-bit or even 8-bit days of gaming. Poor young kids, they will never know what it truly means to be gaming enthusiasts.

Hrm.

Why do you think it's not possible to just legitimately think this gen is the bestest?

Obviously becasue my opinion is all that matters and if you disagree with me then you must be a relentless fanboy of whatever your preferred console is of course.

Actually this was just more of a shot at all the young whipper snappers out there, and to state that I prefer the 16-bit gen.

Is someone feeling a little old? I know I suddenly am

XBox exclusives are mostly fps's. But Nintendo and Sony have much more variety.

I play PC and PS3. The best of both worlds.

The lack of proper Suikoden and Valkyrie Profile games this gen says it all. It really sux

16-bit generation FTW!!!

There's Covenant of the Plume on the mighty DS (current gen)...

Also, IMO this gen kinda sucks because every game must have that "WOW" element/factor to sell... All FPS, Assassin's Creed, PES, Mario Galaxy, etc. In previous generations, games like Little King's Story, Little Big Planet, Viva Pinata, Muramasa could be very well accepted and become successful IPs.

Which bring up another suck-ish point of this gen : very few new IPs, and most of them (that do well enough to survive) have that aforementioned "WOW" factor... Gimme my 16-32bit era back...

Definately the best gen....as for 16 bit being "Golden Age" the linked article can quite frankly shove it up its Arse !

16 bit was not Golden in any way.... in many respects the games industry was on its knees after the Great Crash !

Terrible gameplay with graphics and sound that merely served to paper over the cracks ruled the 16 bit era.

There were of course the odd shining gems but the 16 bit era is best seen as a transition phase rather than any hue of precious metal.

CLEARLY you didn't live through those games your oldest console is probably a ps2 or an xbox anybody who has played the games from the 16-bit era knows these are some of the best games every created judgeing them by graphics and sound is something only a person from the last or current generation would do.

Super mario world, sonic the hedgehog, chrono trigger, final fantasy 6,donkey kong country, super metroid, castlevania IV, and those are only some of the popular games. You really need to own a super nintendo genesis or a turbografx 16 to really experience all the great games.

Heck of a shaky hypothesis there NinjaV.

I did indeed live through the 16 bit era and the 8 bit era.

Come to think of it I was playing Defender in the Arcades in the early 80's and was good enough to draw a large crowd.

I guess perspective is everything but as one of the few gamers to have experienced every gen I still maintain that the 16 bit gen is not "Golden"

If anything the Golden age should really belong to the original arcade games (Asteroids, Pole Position, Pac Man) or the Atari 2600 years.

These games were vanguard, they changed the public perception of what computers could be used for. They ultimately gave you your beloved 16 bit consoles.
