Ok simple question guys. Well do you guys believe the PS3 will overtake the 360 before 2010 is over. I have thought hard about this and I believe the PS3 will do it during December 2010 when it heavily outsells the 360 during Xmas period. PS3 will be around 200,000 units in front of the 360 by 31 December 2010

In the last 6 months PS3 has outsold the 360 by over 3 million consoles. An average of over 500,000 per month.

PS3 started this year only 6 million behind the 360 in total sales. PS3 will outsell the 360 by  6.5 million sales in 2010.

Assume the 360 sells 9 million in 2010. PS3 should easily sell 15 to 16 million console in 2010. PS3 has the bigger games lineup. It has seen God of War 3 as exclusive game, Final Fantasy XIII which sells more and moves more systems. Heavy Rain and M.A.G both exclusives helped push PS3 sales over the 360.  I do not exopect the 360 has any system sellers left. Alan Wake will not be a system seller. Halo:Reach is the 4th iteration of Halo. 360 is drowned with Halo games. PS3 has Resistance 3 or Killzone 3 coming in 2010.

Gran turismo 5 is the PS3s main game which should sell 1 million PS3s in its launch week and become the biggest selling exclusive HD game of this generation. 5 million copies of Gran turismo 5 sold in launch week is a lock in.

360 will be down 10% on the year. PS3 should be up 20% on the year and it may be its peak sales year. 2011 will be equal to this year for PS3 when it gets more price cuts and lots of games that will push PS3 sales through the roof.

Anyway what are your views on this situation?

I think it will pretty much be dead even at the end of the gen.

I think you need to make your own THE GAP because it never closes real good only by like .3 and thats it.I think it can sell alot now due to the price cut

by the end of 2011 is more of a realistic question imo.
PS3 would really have to crush the 360 this holiday, and it is very unlikely that it will.

PS3 could beat the 360 this holiday, but not by enough to take over before the end of 2010.

I think the race will be narrowed though, and by Christmas 2011, the two should be neck and neck.

It's possible, but I think 2011 is more likely. Besides the holidays tax season is a wonderful time for console sales. if it could close the gap during Christmas then maybe the tax time sales could about do it.

So true about tax time buying of consoles. Two people I know did it pretty recently they also bought a few games each.

Sales on all systems are too slow right now to know, but it won't definitely tie until 2011.

probably not till 2011 ps3 has had a good start this year but mid year I think it will be closer
