I agree.

I personally won't use this, the important thing is that HOME will up Sony's sales, so that they will stay in business and give gamers an alternative to the other 2 companies.

lol trying your best to make home look less then it is.

There better be a Gran turismo roon so i can whoop some ass!!

I'm guessing there'll be even more to Home than we've seen. Dance halls, funky outdoor areas, places where you can play games with other Home avatars (capture the flag, Go kart racing) I think Home is going to see two kinds of users. The casual, and the Obsessed. Casual users will have some fun fancying up the apartment, play that awesome arcade game in the demo, and run around from time to time seeing what Sony has recently added.

The obsessed... And oh there will be many of them... They'll spend hours on Home. They'll spend massive amounts of money on their pads, organize group get togethers, turn Home into a dating bananza... there will be much, MUCH! masturbation taking place around Home...

If Sony released a much cheaper, non blueray, forget the Cell console centered around the Home service, they'd have had a crazy hit on their hands. It's too bad they tried to do every damn thing under the sun.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Might as well release a PC version, and call it an MMO ;)

I can see the potential in it - just waiting to see it realised. I still can't imagine what they would/could add to it, to make me actually want a PS3 just to play with it...

Anyway - bring it on. Lets see this baby in action, then we can discuss!

 Yup.

And for you Wii guys who say HOME is horrbile. Nintendo did something with 1/10th the idea, and every time a rumor goes around, about something similar from nintendo, all the Wii guys soil their pants in glee.

No matter how you look at it, HOME is probially the biggest "software" peice for the 'casual' gamers in a long time.

HOME isnt for me, but I wanna have a pimped out mansion. For all my 'awards'

Home is ***NOT*** a MMO. For those of you who dont understand HOME that well Do some reading into what "HOME" is.

HOME is a simple lobby. It is not a place for 100,000 people to roam in the same room. It's meant for I think, tops 50 people. Those of you talking about how horrible people are. Create your own 'home' server... (not sure how it would be done) Have some people pay you to run ads. Have people get on there, make you some money, and ban the asshats.

I dont think everyone can do that, but developers will have their own home enviroments. So if... RockStar was holding a sony press release. They could start up a invite only HOME server, and everyone can watch/listen to the director, watching HD of whatever is being presented, real time. Events like that, it is unknown as to how many people could join in. HOME is largly unknown still, and what is known, is only a scrape off the surface. I think HOME is gonna be massive. Question is, Will it be massive, or win the console war? I think it's gonna be that big/important for sony.

Even in theory it doesn't sound fun though...using a PS3 controller to watch a live press release is not how I want to spend my time...I want to spend my console time playing games, not sitting in lobbies.

If I have to sit in a game lobby...I want it to be for 5 seconds not 5 hours.  Customizing my own "home" would be interesting, but I've done it before in various MMO's...don't tell me creating a "home" with chairs and pictures isn't like in an MMO.  It's a novelty that I'm bored with.

And also, I don't see how this would appeal to "casual gamers."  I wouldn't think the casual gamer would want to spend that much time sitting in front of the tv doing nothing...they'd get bored.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

so very true. i love games but i probably spend less than 10 hours per month on games since im so busy. even if i get a ps3, i dont think i'd care for home. i get a console to play games, not to interact with people virtually. that's what i use internet for. :P

Screw that - create a video, drop it on YouTube, and get 100x more people to watch it. If HOME is about an interface for people to watch videos, its already doomed.

Probably the most compelling aspect of it (from the view of other developers) is the monetising / currency aspects. Its an easy way to show something graphical to a consumer, and then get them to purchase it. Something that can't be done easily on the web (but can be done on say Xbox Live / VC).

The fact that Sony will get a cut of everything may sting companies a bit though. Does this happen on Live?

...

If Sony can convince people that THEY can make money out of setting up their own HOME environment - then things may change. I could see my wife/partner using it...

maybe you should research a bit.  Since it looks like you have no clue what so ever about what home really is.

you think MS is pushing live for the hell of it ? movies/tv/music they all get a cut.... Epic had to figth MS about releseing free Gears downloads.
