Forums - Gaming - Wow ruined console gaming for me

I was wondering if anyone else felt this way. Ever since I started playing PC games back in Diablo/WC3 days console gaming took a step back in my eyes but I still played new games that came out for it until I beat them then went back to Diablo2. Since WoW came out my Ps2 gathered dust until release of God of War 2 and FFXII but I didn't even finish those 2 games before playing WoW again!

I used to play WoW every day 4-5 hours a day sometimes more then had to quit because of work/college and a social life. I understand how people are addicted to WoW because I get like cravings to play it again lol, I know I can't though because I would get sucked back into raiding/arenas and never stop.

Ever since I quit wow though it seems like most console games are lackluster to me, they don't captivate me the same anymore and the worst part is most of them end. I'm not a fan of FPS so their online play doesnt entice me but games like God of war 3 after I beat them I don't want to replay them and thats it. It just seems like WoW ruined console gaming for me.

I also find myself waiting for a good console mmo or dungeon crawler type game that will make me feel like I'm playing WoW again. Oblivion sucked to me. single player mmo bleh and most other games don't fit the bill. I guess I'm gona try FF14 or dcuniverse when it comes out.

I'm kinda the opposite. The Wii ruined WoW for me. Or as I like to see it, saved me from WoW.

For a while, yeah. Though not WoW but Ragnarok Online. In the end though I used my ps2 (and Disgaea grinding) to get unhooked and I'm not touching MMOs again, I tend to get too competative and obsessed with them.

That's funny, WoW ruined PC games and the MMO for everyone else (because playing a game you can sneeze at and get max level is fun!).

Half-Life ruined console gaming for me. After that, I never went back. There's no console game that's as polished as Half-Life. If any game is actually perfect (which I personally believe to be impossible) then Half-Life is probably it.

Nope, I can't see how any game on PC can ruin the console experience, vice-versa too.

I've been gaming on both since I can remember, and will always do so. Oh and I'm not touching WoW ever gain. The 10-hours trial I played was more than enough, those were some of the most boring 10 hours in videogames, i've ever had >_

I refuse to play pc games due to the stigma of WoW. That game is like heroin and ruins lives. It did it to my bros. What a scary, scary game WOW and MMO's can be.

dude i couldnt agree with you more , ive never ever found a game like wow again because like you i was a complete crazy addict lol , i finally became bored of wow almost 5 years later!! i have yet to touch another game with the amount of pve content and addictive pvp action wow has to offer , sadly nothing comes close.

i wouldnt say console games are bad although sometimes when playing a ps3 or 360 game i wish i was playing wow again or another title similar to wow , its just that i feel all these console games are for simple minds and there is no real goals or purpose in the environment.

i as well am waiting on FF14 and dc universe , i played ff11 for a good year before i got into wow i really enjoyed it as well.

remember the first time you entered molten core with 40 guild members and everyone had to memorize exactly what their plan of attack and defense was to be , so many funny times on that game met so many awesome people to , it the best game ever made , its so masterfully crafted no game will ever top it in my mind.

hey ill add you on psn i have a few other people that are going to play ff14 on my list

So true. I don't particularly like MMOs, but WoW has to be the most boring game ever.

It's the only game I would describe as harmful. It should be banned instead of Gears of War, Crackdown, Dead Rising or Manhunt over here...

I never got what was so damn addictive about WoW. I never liked it, and cpouldent get into it even tough I tried. Its simply boring :| I want my Warcraft 4 Blizzard NAOW!!!
