Forums - Gaming - Your list of most underrated titles this gen

@Max: Hope these games are within the rules. None of them are 90% games.

1.)Super Paper Mario - This was a good game for the Wii that never gets any credit. It's a lot better than some of the garbage games for the Wii that does get the credit like Red Steel and No more Heroes.

2.)Star Ocean 4 - This is easily one of the top JRPG's this generation. I'd go as far as saying it's the 2nd best out there behind Vesperia.

All I can think of for now.

Final Fantasy XIII by FAR - The game deserves a meta score higher than any other game in the series for what it accomplishes. It perfected the battle system.

Lost Odyssey - One of my favorite games this generation easily. Sakaguchi and Uematsu seriously nailed it with this one. Critics didn't think so cause they're a bunch of noobs.

I'll come back, cause there's dozens more.

I agree on Super Paper Mario, though a bit too much text, which actually hurt the story, most people are down on the game cause it didn't live up to Paper Mario TTYD which is one of the best RPGs and it changed things a lot.

Star Ocean 4 really suffers from boring level design and bad VA, though the PS3 version could be better, I just played the 360 one.  But I could list a few JRPGs much better.

A Boy and His Blob. It did not only not sell well, it pretty much did not sell at all. 90K at the moment on VG chartz. The games art is very pleasing to the eye. The puzzles for the game are very fun and it is a blast trying out the new shapes the Blob can change into as you go on. The game as a whole is pretty charming and puts a smile on my face. I do consider it to be a pick up and play type of game as it is very easy to learn and the levels are short. I like the fact that after you finish a area it opens up a "bonus" stages which are also fun.

Anyways I will put more in a bit.

Here are two I have played just week:

Tornado Outbreak for Wii (Konami). Its a Katamari-type game for the Wii with cartoon graphics. Its $30 new.

Real Heroes: Firefighter for Wii (Conspiracy). Its a non-violent (shooting) FPS. It looks very average but it uses the Wii controllers (including the speaker within the Wii Remote) quite well. Its $20 new -- if you can find it (try Wal-Mart).

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is a fantastic game even on consoles where it got something like 65% Meta. Awesome team based, advanced shooter, greatly balanced etc.

Dark Messiah of Might & Magic (72% Meta on PC, console version lower) - Superb melee action game in first person. A great adventure. Simply a great, almost fantastic game.

Wolfenstein - rufly 72% Meta all platforms. Is as good as any top notch FPS. Atmospheric. And it's Wolfenstein!

Star Wars The Force Unleashed (~72% Meta)- not a superb game but clearly underrated since it was a solid hacknslash with a nice story and environments.

Finally! I love that game to bits, I'm playing it as we speak! The Source engine yet again shows its flexibility and that it does what only Sean Connery has done before; aging with style. The sheer pace and interactive nature of this game is nothing short of amazing and can teach valuable lessons to other devs.

Oooh, this all reminds me; Thief 4 will be arriving soon.

^ Good to hear Mummelmann! Dark Messiah of M&M needs more appreciation.

Super Paper Mario

Dante's Inferno

Hmmmm I can't really think of anymore

One game I want to talk about is Legend of Zelda TP. I know it sold great and got great reviews but a lot of people shit all over this game. I have just been playing it latly and i don't get it at all. This is one of my favorite Zelda games ever.

I forgot to say Mount & Blade! Apparenlty it got only 72% Meta, so it too is extremely underrated.

Strategy melee action RPG in Medieval times. Incredible combat, the feeling and accuracy is perfect. PC only.

I'll go with Fable II, and yes, I'm aware that it has a high meta score, but people here often enjoy taking a dump on it and Peter Molyneux every chance they get.
