From the wikipedia article:

428 is a visual novel adventure game where players take part in events from the perspectives of multiple protagonists, all acting in parallel with no knowledge of each other. Set in the modern Japanese city of Shibuya, Tokyo, the characters are involved in a mystery that cannot be solved without their interactions, and the plot is advanced by following clues found within the game's text and accompanying video sequences and making decisions on which path each protagonist should follow. Depending on the player's choices, a number of new scenarios become available, which ultimately lead to different outcomes and endings.[5]

Sounds interesting. Does this remind anyone else of anything in particular?

Incidentally, what's the weather like where you guys are? It's raining quite heavily over here.

Games like Heavy Rain have been around FOREVER.  The main difference lies in the making you do stuff like brush your teeth etc.  That's why some people call it a new genre... for some reason.

Sonic Adventure is with a 38/40 is the hightest rated Sonic game ever? Kinda sad, but then again, Japanese have never been huge Sonic fans.

World of Illusion got a nice score though! I would really love to see that game among with other Disney megadrive title's on the virtual console someday.

Certainty paints of picture of Famish getting more and more lenient.

I could honestly say that for of gaming media.

True. It's just Famitsu used to be regarded as "one of the strictist" magazines out there. Famitsu's has been more noticeable. Not that it really matters much since games should only be judged relative to their platform, let alone trying to judge via timeline.

Yeah, but now gaming is too big, magazines rely too much on those games they review giving the magazine ad money and so the publishers have started to realize they have the magazine by the nads, so a lot of the time they have embargos unless they want to give it a higher score and if they're too critical they had ads taken away... its a terrible bind for magazines and the public that wants some good reviews.

DQVI never got a score over 35 from Famitsu? Not even with the remake on DS? I'm shocked...

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

I just noticed, Shiren the Wanderer is the only series in Japan that's always had it's main entries score 35 and up!

Or that this kind of game is very rare outside of Japan. In Japan, Heavy Rain is nothing new, which is why it's selling so poorly there.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

I wouldn't say very... i'd say fairly rare. Now granted it is way more popular on PC in the west.

The Wii has more than any of their other consoles in history. But its lineup CLEARLY sucks.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?
