Hmm interesting to see the PS3 loose so much steam over the past few months. I really dont think it will ever pass the 360 before the next generation of consoles are released. But i could easily be proven wrong

this gen is so weird... We never know what will happen when a console do something great like PS3 slim did.

Ps3 has done a great job and is certainly gaining ground! However I don't think it'll ever pass the 360 in a relevant way since at best it will take the PS3 roughly two years to catch the 360. I fully expect a new Xbox by 2012 honestly.

well over the last 2 weeks the PS3 has sold around 230,000 a week so hopefully now stock is coming in it will stay this way

The 6 and 12 month averages include a holiday season and the slim week 1 and 2 boosts. The 3 month average doesn't. It's hardly suprising that the gap would be smaller outside of the holiday season, is it?

why cant it pull a ps2 or something :(

Theres always something new happening, obviously it will probably never fit into the idea that you can simply mark a floating date on the calendar and be done with it. I suspect a slim Xbox 360 will vastly improve sales numbers on its own but perhaps the question is in that instance about whether or not it would improve the sales position or not or if most of the early adopters would simply be current Xbox 360 owners.

No, it doesn't the ps3 could sustain 230k a week, if stock is replenishe in the US (which it looks like it is), so it should end up outselling the xbox 360 regularly in the americas by a slight to moderate margin based on observations.
