Forums - Sony - Self-proclaimed PS3 hacker GeoHot: "DO NOT UPDATE" to 3.21.

I wouldnt worry too much about piracy, GeoHot was unable to get the decryption keys. He was also unable to do anything with game mode, only OtherOS mode. Nothing so far has the potential to allow PS3 to run unsigned code in GameOS Mode. Without GameOS Mode, there is no decryption, thus no BluRay discs will play. Unless you somehow got a non encrypted version of a game , which I am pretty sure is almost impossible.

He may well be able to retain OtherOS support with custom firmware, but I really do not think we are any closer to a real warez community on PS3.

SO what comes next?

"Sony wanted to make money on PS2 PSN sales, so I understand them taking away PS2 B/C from 20/60 and early 80GB owners."?

Point is this, taking away something that was used as a selling point to these customers as possibly used by some of them is more wrong than what Geohot is doing.

Some people need to screw their heads on straight and realize that you're supporting a company taking away features that some of us paid for.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Think Sony can hire Snake for one last job ;) lol

If he succeeds, trophy's aren't gonna mean much soon...

4 ≈ One

Hackers like this spend all thier lives and abnormal amounts of effort towards ruining the gaming world faster then it would happen normally.

It's like when you play a PC or board game and it's loads of fun... until one Uber competive a-hole picks apart the game relentlessley and plays every exploit to the maximum and then advertises it to the world until everyone plays that way and the game becomes crap, then proclaiming themselves to be a "badass"

Hacking exists and exploits will eventually be revealed which sill force more restraints on our systems and games, but we would be able to enjoy them AS IS a lot longer if it wasn't for fools like this guy.

Tic-Tac_toe was a lot of fun, until someone explained to always put X in the center square....

Actually it's better to play in one of the corners since the second player only has one valid reply (the center)

It confuses people too, which is great.

Man I gotta write this stuff down.

Well, sorry to get back on topic guys, LOL! But, I'm kinda curious if some of these 360 guys that don't even own a PS3 and are bashing Sony, are the same ones who defended MS when they were banning people from Live. Even though they had already paid for their system and Live. I mean I see no difference here.

I already updated mine! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
the thing is I was kicked out of the PSN, and had to update it! ruined my uncharted 2 match(just needed three more kills to win!! damn you sony!!!)

You don't see the difference between Sony taking away features I paid for and pirates on XBL?
