Forums - Gaming - 3D TVs, and possibly gaming going to take off MUCH faster than HD TV imo

Yesterday I went to best buy(yes the just dance experience came from there) and I decided to go and look around the tv section since I suspected they had 3d tv's in. I go to the guy, and tell him "excuse me are you guys selling 3d tvs" and he tells me "No we aren't, we sell out immediately after getting stock, and have alot of them pre ordered". Then I noticed a huge group of people huddled around an area near the HD tv's, and noticed they were showing MONSTERS VS ALIENS in 3D. The tv was a SAMSUNG 3D TV, priced at $2900(yikes). A load of people were just amazed by it, sadly there was only 1 pair of glasses, but I did get to see it, and my was it a great experience. Not as good as the theatres though, but the guy tells me the PANASONIC 3D TVs that they are also selling offers a better 3d experience.

Anyhow, Im sure its going to take off rather quickly.. and the glasses are no hassle at all. I heard a rumor that SONY's 3D TVS are going to be less than 2k? Is that true? Because I REALLY can't find anything on the web, I do know they are the only one's brining glasses.

Won't 3D gaming cause massive headaches if you play too long :x?

Why would it cause massive headaches?

AVATAR was what? 3 hours, and nobody had a headache watching that

Damn you James Cameron!

Now I need a new TV - in fact I need 3 new TVs!

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

yea but if you do it everyday for 4-5 hours it gotta hurt!

I think 3D TVs will take off when autostereoscopic displays become affordable.

Each time something new comes in you'd see people talking about it a lot , but if its really expensive no one will buy it even if they want to.
in this case , its going to be okay for people who like movies as for games, i don't know. i wouldn't want to wear glasses while playing for too long.

I agree, the jump from Non 3D to 3D is much bigger compared to SD to HD

But I HATE the glasses.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

3D without glasses will be the big thing.

3D with glasses, not so much.

With a film your eyes focus differently than when you're gaming and you naturally blink more.  Of course if people take the proper breaks they should do then its not an issue really.
