Do you want to pay for episodic games or DLC?

Yes, Nintendo give us some more DLC 6 20.69%

No, the content should be... 23 79.31%

Total:29

Alright as we hear about Sonic The HedgeHog 4 and the failure of Penny Arcade episodic games look even less appealing for me. I mean come on I absolutly hate it when I'm watching a TV show every week just to see the show cancelled and I'm left wondering what was going to happen next. Well thats exactly what happened to Penny Arcade the third episode never happened and consumers who had purchased the two prior episodes were left hanging. So now I hear about Sonic The Hedgehog 4 and wonder why would I want to pay 15-20$ for the first episode of a game, I want the whole game at once not in episodic periods.

This then leads me to DLC thank goodness the Wii still has very little DLC and none from Nintendo. I don't know about you but on my 360 DLC really pisses me off. Releasing map packs weeks after the games release and expecting gamers to shell out 20$ for all of them. Or releasing new costumes or weapons for maybe 5$ a pop. I remember my biggest relief and other fans dissapointment when the Halo DLC was all included with ODST. I remember how pissed off all these people were who had purchased the DLC.

So do we want episodic games and DLC on the Wii? I would love free DLC through WiiConnect24 but I'm sick of price gouging. Why should we pay like 20$ for maps that should have been included in the game or extra weapons or costumes. Give me that content on the disk don't charge tons extra for it.

Who else hopes Nintendo doesn't start releasing tons of DLC and episodic games?

Uhm... *puts down wiimote while playing Tales of Monkey Island* why not? I actually hope for NBA jam DLC.. DLC and Episodic games are fun.. and you don't have to buy them but having the choice to do so is nice..

You don't decide what should be in the game or not.
That's like me saying NSMB Wii is unfinished because it lacks some more levels that are never going to be released.
DLC is an option and not a necessity.

If you like a game and want to pay more to make the game even better, then buy some DLC for it.
If not, don't buy it.

No.

Actually in many cases with the 360 you are forced to buy the DLC. For example Halo after about a year you needed the extra levels to play online matches. If you didn't have the DLC it would tell you you needed the extra map packs. Same with other games I have played they require DLC to play the game online.

I bought the game to play at home and online with friends, then I'm forced to purchase more online content to continue playing online. If I say no my game becomes useless. Then their are the games that are just bare bones and you need DLC to do anything. Mostly these games are online but as Patcher said (Yes I know he's a moron but people seem to respect him) that the future of games is DLC releasing bare bones software and upgrading it with DLC.

Of course I have no right to decide what goes into a game and what doesn't. However if the DLC is going into the game weeks later even months later why should I have to pay a fortune for content that should have been included origionally. The biggest example is Halo the first map pack was released like a month or two later and then Microsoft and Bungie forced us to buy more map packs by restricting online.

Of course Microsoft gave some DLC away free during special events and eventually gave it all with ODST. But my example still stands do we want to have to buy DLC for all our games when in the past that content would have been included in the origional release? Why should you or I have to pay for a level that was taken out of the disk version specifically to gouge your money?

well I'm not the multiplayer guy so I can't fully comment on those Halo 3 issues.

I only know I played it online for a few days some time after Microsoft released the Heroic mappack for free and after they released the Legendary mappack.

I played like 15 matches and not once came a message that I need to buy the Legendary mappack in order to play the game.

And again that developers left out levels on purpose to sell it later is just an assumption that no one could possibly prove.
I also don't think that devs back then were more kindly and implement those maps before the official game release. It's more likely that they never made them in the first place.

Am I right in remembering that you download most of your games free anyway?

If so what difference does it make to you?

I don't find episodic content very appealing, DLC is fine as long as it is free, or relatively cheap.

Still rather stuff be included in the game in the first place though.
