NEVAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I once named my alakazam mr.sparklyballs and next morning i woke up in sabrina's doll house.
Always if they are going to be used by me in battles; it just feels to impersonal to go into battle with namless people. Pokemon that are just going into storage to complement my Pokedex don't get a name.
I give them random names...
Squirtle the Pikachu...metroid, valuemart, popcorn, flabbergast, doorbell, binladen...just whatever comes to mind and is completely bizzare.
There was one game I named my starter Picard, then caught 5 zigzagoons and named them Riker, Worf, Geordi, Troi, and Data...beat the elite 4 with that group. :)
I always try to name every single one. Most of the time I look for names in others games like summons and such or sometimes mythology. I think I've had a bunch of pokemon named after djinn from Golden Sun for example :)
I just got a Mareep in Heartgold. His name is Zappy. :D
Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.
Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash
I always name my starter Jake. I always name my male Pichu Manny.
Named after 2 people on this site. LOL.
