Forums - Gaming - Let's talk retro gaming

So I've been on a complete retro gaming binge lately. Civilization 1, Battletoads, Space Quest 3, Crystalis, and plenty of other old NES and PC games mostly. What I want to ask is what are your favorite old games that you still bust out every once in a while? And any other old games that you may suggest to me.

Every year I play one of the old lucasarts point and click adventure games! full throttle, the dig, monkey island series, grim fandango, sam and max and the best: Day of the Tentacle.. those are awesome games... I also play alot of the old games on my iPhone.. Simon the sorcerer, Flight of the Amazon queen, the Secret of Monkey Island SE, Beneath a steel sky, Broken Sword..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

THE DIG! I remember that game! and Full Throttle sounds very familiar.
Never heard of Day of the Tentacle, I'll go check that out.

Yes, the Lucasart's adventure games have held up really well I think. I still replay Grim Fandango from time to time and always find it great fun just for the characters and the fantastic voice work.

Beneath a Steel Sky is also good.

I recently (after much effort) got Tie Fighter and System Shock 2 up and running - those are two great, great games.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

So many games...

4D Stunts
Prehistorik
Populous
Sim City
Ultima VII
Doom 2
Duke Nukem 3D
Curse of Monkey Island
Yoda Stories
Indy 500
Theme Hospital
Megaman 2
Tecmo Super Bowl
Adventure Island
Kid Icarus
Zelda 2: The adventures of Link
Dragon Warrior

The list goes on and on xD

I shall check some of those out, for now I'm busy with:
Are we There Yet? (great little puzzle collection game)
Space Quest 3
Xenogears
Saga Frontier
Parasite Eve
Vagrant Story
Civilization 1
Misc. NES games.

Maybe PS1 isn't so "retro" but I've been craving those games for a while. I shall take look at some of those you'd all mentioned later =)

@lestatdark,
Great list there! I've played mostly all of them. Theme Hospital, Indy 4500, and Yoda Stories and 4D Stunts are the only ones I haven't played.

I remember having lots of fun with Full Throttle:

"I'm not puttin' my lips on that."

My SNES..

Mario, Donkey Kong, Killer Instinct...

All things Sierra:

Homeworlds
Quest For Glory
Space Quest
Kings Quest
Planescape: Torment
Magic Carpet
Sacrifice

I will hook up the older consoles every now and again and its usually like this:
NES=Crystalis
DC=Skies of Arcadia
Saturn=Dragon Force
SNES=Secret of Evermore

Parasite Eve and Xenogears should be your top priority, but since i'm heavily Parasite Eve biased (it's my second favourite game of all time), you must take my word with a grain of salt xD.

I love 4D Stunts, it's the precursor to every game in which you have manageable tracks. You can create your own tracks, and since there are hundreds of pieces, the combination are virtually infinite. Plus, there's a huge internet community behind the game still in this day (One of the largest for a 19 year old game) and tournaments are still organized (via replay visualizations). All this in a 1 MB package xD
