Random question time: what does Thunderblight do? I know the other four (Dragon for lower affinity, whatever that means, fire puts you on fire, ice speeds stamina loss, water slows stamina recovery), but i have no idea what happens when Lagiacrus zaps me...

It increases your likelyhood of being stunned by a monster attack. Normally something like 2-4 consecutive heavy monster hits would stun you, whereas just 1 or 2 heavy hits will stun you while thunderblighted. Not sure if it affects stun immunity though.

Btw how did those Rathalos runs go? I'm sure you've got the hang of it by now, but what a lot of people do is they stay as far away from his head and torso region as possible (when he's raging) just in case it decides to hit you with a surprise fireball.

Mr Khan, have you the rahian armor ? you should if not the case. Bring some firedouse berry also fo added fire protection, and furthermore add some fire decoration aswell for a 35 fire protection on your rathian armor.

For the first run, bring capture materials, I found out he was pretty hard to fight till the end.  you need to capture him to end quickly the mission, he enters in rage mode and changes location a lot when he is about to die.

I used a long sword against him, ideally a dragon one (leech some Jhen Mohran quest for this !), but with a good LS like a anahanta boneblade you'll be able to do sthg. Cut his tail as fast as possible, so his annoying sweep tail will be less effective. Consider the bombs as well when he fells. A L bomb plus a small/felyne is very useful.

Good Hunt !

When lagiacrus thunderblights you, your stamina regens a lot slower.

ACTUAL CAPCOM FINANCIAL QTR RESULTS, in their proper context -

"In this business segment, "Super Street Fighter IV" (for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) and the online exclusive title "Monster Hunter Frontier Online" (for PC, Xbox 360) showed steady growth. However, overall sales remained stagnant due to weak performances of some titles: "Lost Planet 2" (for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360), one of our featured products, underperformed its projection substantially; "Monster Hunter Tri" (for Wii) grew at sluggish pace; newly-released "Ghost Trick" (for Nintendo DS) struggled"

http://www.capcom.co.jp/ir/english/news/html/e100729b.html

So MH3 DID NOT underperform its projection substantially = good

MH3 DID NOT struggle = good

MH3 DID GROW at a sluggish pace = good. Typical of a Wii game, to grow slowly, but generally speaking its certainly not a case of Capcom blaming the Wii and MH3 for the quarters results. Weekly sales are two and a half times what LP2 is doing, and that released 3 weeks later in US/PAL.

Soooooooooooooooo in conclusion, wait for Sven's bullshit forum contribution for an accurate assessment of what Capcom Japan's Corporates actually think.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

I got back from my vacation today and started the game. So far it's been OK, but only because I've only done fetch quests so far. Tomorrow I should start fighting a boss...

When can I make a long sword btw?

Long time from now. You need to complete Gobul 3 Star Urgent quest, and then go see the Argosi sea captain a few times.

This thread still lives! Great. I've stopped at level 30, I have to capture a diablos and that's not easy. I live in Pal region so If someone is looking for a teammate, I might help, that could help me to get expert rank.

So I got farther. I'm on on 2 star quests and I beat the Great Jaggi. In the offline arena I beat the Great Jaggi and Qurupeco, but not Barroth. That dude's tough but I'll try again.

He has a lot of health. I find a Negate Mud skill helps substantially here.

He's saying the arena, though. Do they give you a negate mud set as an option?

That's what i loathed about having to get Royal Ludroth coins. Sword and Shield, Great Sword, Hammer, or small gunner. The gunner had the olympic swimmer skill, but the Great Sword had Marathon runner, and how is that even applicable in the Water arena where you can't do anything but swim?
