Thanks for the tips. Crouching and smoke bombs are things I must try more often to learn when they will be useful. That is if I ever get the time to play again...stupid work gets in the way of everything that is fun.

I'm playing offline again, which means its time for another rant!

Today's topic: Rathalos. They set that fight up to be as infuriating as possible. The instant your cool drink runs out, oh dear, you best run like hell, flash bombs don't work at all, rhenoplos always get in the way, and that's disregarding he himself and his tendency to fly away all the time, and those fireballs which somehow manage to avoid my guard, and the fact that it takes ten minutes to find him in the first place, so that even if i could live long enough, it probably wouldn't do any good.

Rathalos is the worst of the monsters, bar none.  Whoever thought fighting a beast that's airborne 80% of the time, and blows you away with that annoying three-second animation whenever you get close really needs to re-think if making videogames is the right career for them.  Thankfully it has a pitifully-low amount of health, but still...

The flying isn't too much of a problem, except for the drag time that it takes for me to dequip the Lance and be able to toss a flash bomb. By then i've either been hit, or he's landed already (which voids the opportunity to really get him)

Mostly i'm having environmental problems with him. Rhenoplos (you pretty much can't fight him and them in the same room, as one or the other will get you) and timing the flash bombs.

You'll be just in time to witness my no-doubt-at-all Triumphant Return!

I usually skip the flash bombs in favor of bouncing bombs or traps.  Rhenoplos have never really been a problem for me though: I'm rarely in one spot long enough for their charge to connect, so they have to get REALLY lucky.

How many of you guys are PAL players?

I flipping love this game. Did Diablos Cap last night with a fellow 30 HR dude and someone 101HR- good team play!!

1 and a half hours on Rathalos, and only 1 run worth anything, and i still ran out of time and had to quit before the game took away everything. Idiocy.

Three whole days, zero progress. I'm out. Rathalos has beaten me permanently, and i will never even attempt that quest again, and thus give up on offline play entirely.

so this means you'll beat him soon then? ;)
