The man has spoken. Now, can we leave it be once and for all?

Because there has been a severe lack of Zelda Wii in the past 3 years.

It would be un-Japanese of him to say otherwise. Granted that some Japanese developers have been dicks about competitors before, but nominally this would be the right thing to say, regardless of what he felt.

Miyamoto on Move/Natal - "It's a new experience that we originated"

| Khuutra said: Oh everyone knows that Miyamoto's middle name is Class. Anyone who expected him to say anything else has never heard the man talk about the proliferation of design principles (note that I don't say "art" here because he doesn't think of it that way). |
Yep. The man is crazy. To be fair though, he can afford to be so classy. I mean look at how many successful ideas he's had it's an anomoly.
Often when people complain that a developer or artist or writer isn't good anymore I just say "What do you want. Creative people only have so many good ideas in them!"
Yet him...half the time I'm not even convinced he fully knows what videogames are, he just seems to create all these new ideas from stuff not even relate to videogames and they keep working.

Now we should make a pointless task of seeing if we can gleam his next big game from this.
Um, Wii Humility?
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
