Don't you know?!
Any games not selling well on the Wii is the developer's fault.

60 million year end 2008 for Wii is pretty silly.
I think something in the degree of 30-40 million is reasonable.
The DS is pretty much the fastest selling system ever and it hasn't even sold 60 million in THREE years.
Top 3 favorite games: Super Mario Galaxy, The Sims 2 (PC), The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

Capcom admitted that retailers were some of the reason gumming up getting this game exposed in enough stores. Wasn't there a public statement about that recently?
But like I said before (I think in this thread even) a big part of why Wii's software sales aren't as high as they could be is because of inability to get hands on a machine. Who buys games without a console to play them on? Zack & Wiki got lost in the shuffle but I don't think it's beyond hope for the title. Word of mouth may bring that title back. I see lots of older titles resurfacing throughout the life of the Wii like bobbing apples.
Aren't we seeing old launch title Marvel: Ultimate Alliance resurface in the top 10 this week in the American charts? That thing has been out since last November and now it's #8 this week after being persona non grata for months. You will see that with Wii too and I believe to a greater effect.
Some people see games they like but only have so much money and time to devote to it so they vow to pick them up next time. I still don't have Super Paper Mario yet and that's big on my list. Trying to diversify my library I picked a few titles over it but it's still a hot buy for me & will be bought soon.
Some people see games all year long and then one day decide to buy it up. They sit in the shelves month after month and people see the image of that case & it gets embedded in their minds. Take me for instance. I missed out totally at launch for Wii. Didn't understand what it took to get a system at launch and was totally unprepared. I thought I could just waltz in and get one just by coming to the store. Ha! After I realized my grave error I decided well at least I'll walk out with Zelda and not make this a wasted trip. But all the Zeldas were preordered and the 9 left in the case were snatched up by the clerk right before my very eyes. So cruel and heartbreaking
I had a totally busted trip. Empty handed X 9000. There was one game there in that case that day that was plentiful, however. Dragonball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2. I remember longing for Zelda and then looking over to the left with loads of DBZ: BT2. I left the store saying I'll try again later and after I lucked out on Dec. 6 finally getting my Wii (I had picked up Zelda alone 3 days earlier just to have it) a few months later what was the very next game I bought at the early part of the next year 2007? DBZ: BT2. The game that made an impression in my brain after that disappointing trip to the store at launch. And thankfully it was an excellent game.
This will happen with Wii owners and the more systems available the more buyup for more games. Zack & Wiki will have its revenge, I really believe it.

Wii will have between 45-50m by financial year's end 2008. I'm going to learn more toward 50.
And CoD4 Wii is going to happen. It's not that CoD3 was a test that failed. It's more that it's a test that showed they were screwing up. MoH:H2, I think, is being watched very closely by Activision, and they're viewing it as a test. They're seeing if CoD4 Wii would be wise from that, and studying the control scheme to see if they can learn from it.
That, and Metroid Prime 3.
I think CoD4 Wii will be releasing within the next two or three months.

um, it won't. John Lucas is like Sony PR, Can't take both of them seriously, or you'll become a fanboy.
I'll take the case!!!
"KWAAD VS JOHN LUCAS (We'll See Who's DELUDED!)"
both?

Can't speak for everyone else, but I just came back before I woke up. After sleeping. Anyway, I don't see anything you two listed as incredibly relevant.
Please explain how Nintendo is going to magically double production by 2008.
Please explain how Sony magically doubled production of the PS2 in 2002. The succesful console gets huge increases in production, I thougt that was pretty much self evident.

Good games sell badly sometimes. I'm sure you're familiar with Okami, an excellent game on the best selling console to date? Zack&Wiki was a quirky niche title with a low budget, and the Capcom representives have repeatedly said that they weren't expecting to do all that well.
How many third party titles do you think have made a profit on the PS3? Before the soon-to-be million seller CoD4, the best selling game was Riiidge Racer at under 700k. The 360 is still selling more games, but Wii games clearly make more profit. I suppose the scenario where the Wii keeps getting spin-offs, and the main series remain on the HD consoles is possible, but it doesn't make sense honestly.
The people who said Metroid Prime 3 is going to outsell Halo 3 are the types of people who say the PS3 is going to outsell the Wii. Come on, we know there are fans for all consoles that are less than entirely rooted in reality.
| Parokki said: RE5 is still extremely uncertain. First of all it's coming out in 2009 at the earliest, and we can't say with any great detail what the gaming market will look like then. It's also coming from Capcom, a company that has a great history with Nintendo, as well as a known tendency to abandon platforms that aren't doing too well. Ubisoft was smart, supported the Wii from the start, and made a killing with Raving Rabbids and Red Steel. Now Capcom has the chance to be the first to bring one of their core franchises over, and really rake in the cash. Lots of people seem to think the Wii will only get spin-offs, but RE4 has showed how much better quality games sell on the system, and we can be damn sure Capcom has noticed as well. Besides, we've all seen the RE5 trailer. It's basically RE4 in Africa with HD graphics and a few more moving objects. They'll probably have some pretty big bosses or whatever, but I doubt there's going to anything the Wii will be unable to run in SD. All that said, I'm not sure how much I'm looking forward to this game.. The people who started the series and returned to make it great with the fourth part have long since left Capcom. Probably a bit of bias from me, since the guys who left are some of my favorite developers (the guys behind Okami, Viewtiful Joe, DMC and other masterpieces), but I can't see 5 being all that impressive compared to 4. tl;dr: It would be logical for Capcom to release RE5 on the Wii, and there's nothing stopping them from doing it, but it'll probably suck anyway. Oh, and they've announced that they're currently working on Bionic Commando, DMC4, Dark Void, and a bunch of other games for the 360 and PS3, but their Wii lineup consists of only a port of Okami and Monster Hunter 3. Moving RE5 to the Wii would make their roster look much more sensible, especially when everyone is talking about developers shifting resources for the Wii. |
Maybe most of the crew behind RE4 and are gone but Capcom never was a shovelware company; see now Zack & Wiki, RE:UC and Lost Planet. All very good games; I wouldn't worry too much about RE5 quality rather than being more of the same, just a RE4 with fancier graphics.
