Third party dev. give you a good game in Zack and Wiki, and got very little in return, hoping the game would sell well. Explain this. |
Capcom admitted that retailers were some of the reason gumming up getting this game exposed in enough stores. Wasn't there a public statement about that recently?
But like I said before (I think in this thread even) a big part of why Wii's software sales aren't as high as they could be is because of inability to get hands on a machine. Who buys games without a console to play them on? Zack & Wiki got lost in the shuffle but I don't think it's beyond hope for the title. Word of mouth may bring that title back. I see lots of older titles resurfacing throughout the life of the Wii like bobbing apples.
Aren't we seeing old launch title Marvel: Ultimate Alliance resurface in the top 10 this week in the American charts? That thing has been out since last November and now it's #8 this week after being persona non grata for months. You will see that with Wii too and I believe to a greater effect.
Some people see games they like but only have so much money and time to devote to it so they vow to pick them up next time. I still don't have Super Paper Mario yet and that's big on my list. Trying to diversify my library I picked a few titles over it but it's still a hot buy for me & will be bought soon.
Some people see games all year long and then one day decide to buy it up. They sit in the shelves month after month and people see the image of that case & it gets embedded in their minds. Take me for instance. I missed out totally at launch for Wii. Didn't understand what it took to get a system at launch and was totally unprepared. I thought I could just waltz in and get one just by coming to the store. Ha! After I realized my grave error I decided well at least I'll walk out with Zelda and not make this a wasted trip. But all the Zeldas were preordered and the 9 left in the case were snatched up by the clerk right before my very eyes. So cruel and heartbreaking
I had a totally busted trip. Empty handed X 9000. There was one game there in that case that day that was plentiful, however. Dragonball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2. I remember longing for Zelda and then looking over to the left with loads of DBZ: BT2. I left the store saying I'll try again later and after I lucked out on Dec. 6 finally getting my Wii (I had picked up Zelda alone 3 days earlier just to have it) a few months later what was the very next game I bought at the early part of the next year 2007? DBZ: BT2. The game that made an impression in my brain after that disappointing trip to the store at launch. And thankfully it was an excellent game.
This will happen with Wii owners and the more systems available the more buyup for more games. Zack & Wiki will have its revenge, I really believe it.
