i hope they make the game more accessible to the purists (like me)
FFXIII promised great stuff and ended up being more user-friendly.
Story was the worst in the main series so far although the battles were innovative.
So i hope nomura please don't screw this up =)

I take this differently. Currently the FF main series with FF XIII is more linear, there's no world map, and it's mainly just walk > cutscene > battle > repeat until the end right? Versus will be different from that in that Versus will be more like the older FFs with a world map, an airship, etc. Nomura said Versus will be more like a traditional FF than XIII, so it'll probably appeal more to the traditionalists.

How I look at it FFXIII could have started out as a traditional FF game but turned into a Action RPG during development and FFVersusXIII started out more of a Action RPG and turned into a Traditional FF game from the info that Nomura Tetsuya gave in the resent interview.

This game is as main series as X-2 was. At least I don't consider neither one main series titles, but spin-offs with main series treatment.

Joey was a spin off of Friends...

Good times was a spin off of All in the Family...

Caprica is a spin off of Battlestar Gallactica...

Xena was a spin off of Hercules...

What do they have in common? Similar characters...meaning a character from the parent entity will appear and lead the new show... show me one character that is present in XIII that will appear in VXIII. You can’t even call it a spin-off based on themes because its so different...

The only reason it is probably called versus XIII is because they are working on it simultaneously and the crystal crap
