Red - That is only America. God of War also has "Others", where it has sold about 400k.

God of War wins

180 re-spin!: 1st week worldwide, Pokemon wins!  Even without "Others"!

Pokemon HG/SS

  • ~930k NA
  • ~1.45m JP

God War III

  • ~700k NA
  • ~400k EU
  • <50k JP

Don't make me spin even further and bring up install bases and then fractions and then divide Pokemon's sales by 2 thus leaving God of War the winner ¬_¬

Plus you know the whole Pokemon vs GoW debate is about WESTERN sales, meanie

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Oh BTW can I just say AMAZING 2nd Week FF13 Sales:

FF13 sold 276K in its 2nd week

FF12 sold 151K in its 2nd week

Ofcourse FF12 had the advantage of being launched in the holidays.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

DS sales are just embarrassing. Good think Nintendo is launching a new handheld soon, they need to do something to revitalize interest.

Some heads at Sony do need to roll.

kowenicki, do you think there´s something kinda fishy about these shortages?...it couldn´t have been that hard to supply more systems for one of the biggest games..it´s almost like it´s intentional, but it wouldn´t make sense at the same time...hmmm.

just a little thing :

I m not sure ioi confirmed that, before this week, shortage were not impacting the ps3 sales

he just said something like "this is the first week we really see shortage" that can be interpreted in many ways

what is sure : shortage were not that big before.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Good start to GoW III. It is a shame that one of the premier last gen franchises couldn't be used to drive HW sales forward for the Americas.

If Sony's PS3 factories are pumping out PS3's as fast as they can without compromising QA then there's not much Sony can do about supply issues unless it can source some additional manufacturing capacity. It can't be a simple thing to re-tool a factory from manufacturing one device across to manufacturing another.

I wonder if GoW III sales were affected by PS3 shortages. The PS3 supply problem could have had some measure of depressing effect on GoW III sales. Given some people who really were wanting to buy a PS3 to play GoW III may have been out of luck, so no point in buying the game until you have the system to play it on.

I expect most of the rest of the World will be up or steady this week but America's big decline will mean WW numbers will be down.

checking ;)

EDIT : I find this :
""Yes up until now - according to all of our research at least - PS3 has been hard to find as some locations but in reasonable supply overall - i.e I don't believe sales would have been significantly higher had there been 1m units available.
This week however, we're seeing some serious signs of shortages with as much as half of the stores we speak to being out of stock this week...""

well, yeah, he said that he "believes" ... so it is up to interpretation ;))

Time to Work !

Wii doing well as usual, DS got a nice little boost from Pokemon. I think I have to get that game as I lost my old Pokemon Silver..

Wow PS3, I really expected it to do better on the heels of FFXIII and GOW3 release, at least near Wii numbers. Are shortages really that bad? I have seen the higher priced model at least available on various online stores, and the $300 model available on amazon, though for a higher price. But I think the shortages thing is a bit over exaggerated. I mean you would think Sony would be better prepared to handle extra shipments on the week of one of its biggest releases of the year.
