Will The Witcher (PC) Outsell Mass Effect (X360)?

Yes. 33 45.83%

No. 39 54.17%

Total:72

This may sond like an odd question, since The Witcher never had the exposure of Mass Effect's, and console game sales are very frontloaded (unlike PC games). However PC games have an enourmous staying power, and often are sold for years or even decades.

The Witcher is one that represents the sales power and trend of PC games, while Mass Effect is an example of the former.

My question is, do you believe The Witcher will outsell Mass Effect (X360)? Now, I know one would be so fast to vote NO, but allow me to inform you of The Witcher's sales:

Late October 2007 - Release of The Witcher

Early February 2008 - 600k (+600k, 200k/Month for 3 months)

Late October 2008 - 1 Million (+400, 50k/Month for 8 months)

Early March 2009 - 1.2 Million (+200k, 50k/Month for 4 months)

Early March 2010 - 1.5 Million(+300k, 25k/Month for 12 months)

Where will both games sales be in 3 or 4 years? The Witcher will no doubt keep selling, while Mass Effect's sales have stagnated. Upcoming The Witcher 2 will also provide a bump in sales of it's prequel.

I'm surprised more people didn't vote NO. I guess the more you know...

Do you not think Mass Effect 3 will bump Mass Effect sales?

mmm interesting. I expect The Witcher to sell more when all is said and done.

I believe The Witcher 1.6 million lifetime. Mass Effect will have great legs and sell 2.5 million for the X360 version alone.

Also remember that most copies of Mass Effect are sold at $40-$60 while The Witcher sold most of it's copies for less than $10 in the Eastern Bloc and on Steam.

It's called "legs", not "staying power".

In the long run, I'd say The Witcher based on the sales figures you provided.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

from where do you get these sale figures shio

from the devs themselves. They released their figures for The Witcher several times in the past, the last time being the hidden message in the trailer of The Witcher 2.

definitely, but a The Witcher 3 would also bump the sales of The Witcher. But both those sequels aren't even announced and are years away, so let's ignore them for now.

The Witcher 2 is coming not far, so we can count on the bump it'll give.

You think the witcher will only sell 100k more? Why would it stop so suddenly? This is a PC game, which usually sell for ages (especially great games).

With the amount of used copies of ME in stores, you can't really expect it to sell much more. As for revenue, it's different because then we'd also have to see the profit of each game and it's pure specualtion at best. The Witcher was also cheaper to make, almost no money spent of marketing, didn't have to pay fees to Microsoft, and a sizeable chunk came from DD sales (higher profit margin).

nope probably not.
The Witcher got the Enhanced Edition release in September 08, that's why the average sales between October 08 and Early March 09 are the same.
Without the release of the Enhanced Edition there is a visible decline in sales over the months.
