I really need to watch it again. It's been years since I've seen it and I wanted to watch Twin Peaks again a few years back but just became too busy. You know what? I bet I could totally convince the girl to watch that with me. Once I finish that series up, I wanted to watch Fire Walk again to see if I "get it" this time. First time around, it just didn't do anything for me. Then again, I was like 17 at the time.

OT: Check out The City of Lost Children. It's a French film from about 10-12 years ago that is just pure awesome in its weirdness.

I saw that only a few weeks ago. It certainly was very odd! I'm really not sure how I feel about it, I think it warrants a second viewing at some point before I can give a proper opinion on it. It wasn't quite Amelie (I loved that film) but it was interesting. Will have to watch Delicatessen and Micmacs at some point.

OT - Fight Club is an old movie?  Oh my for my advancing years!

I'd say watch Cronenberg, Lynch plus all the good stuff mentioned for great films.  How far back are you looking, though?  Have you see some of the great black & white films that play well with perception such as The Third Man or classic Hitchcock stuff like Vertigo.

Anyway, glad you're enjoying great movies.  I love 'em myself.

Haha, you're getting old buddy!

To be honest, I'm not that interested in black & white films, as I'm just a random cinephile, but I don't see myself studying cinema history or anything like that later on. No doubt some of the stories might be great in old movies, but I'm sure the filming techniques and the way actors play and stuff would turn me off quickly. It's like with very old RPGs, I have a hard time enjoying them because of how Squaresoft spoiled me with CGI cutscenes and great production values in their later games.

And damn, so many movies to watch, so little time! I'll try to watch all the movies listed in this thread at least once though.

Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Your definition of old movies makes me sad inside.

There's a movie very few people know about called Gattaca. It's kind of a philosophical movie with a futuristic genre and with genetic stuff. That's why they called the movie Gattaca (ACGT are the four letters of the genetic code). And Uma Thurman is in it!
It's a very good movie.

The last post I made, or the OP? If it's the former, then please help me enjoy older than old stuff!

If it's the latter... a decade is kind of old, am I right? Besides, I'm not trying to impress anyone here.

omg this!

If you want a REALLY old movie that does amazing things with cinemetography and some crazy twists and whatnot, you want The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari. It's a 1919 german horror film that was just beautiful on the eyes. It kind of kickstarted the whole gothic film trend (I bet Burton has watched it a million times). Don't be put off just because it's an old silent black and white movie. It really is a triumph of film. I think you'll like it.

Catch-22 is a great adaptation of the book (my favourite book) with a narrative that shows complete disregard for the normal passage of time.

Deathrace 2000 is agreed upon by both Maxim magazine and myself to be the greatest B-movie ever made. Yes, better than Evil Dead 2. you'll laugh and love.

WestWorld is a great old movie best described as Jurassic park with Cowboys. Of course after you see it, you'll realize that Jurassic park is just Westworld with dinosaurs

Run Lola run is pretty much one big giant "cool thing". It's a german movie, but there isn't much dialogue so don't worry if your one of those annoying "don't like foreign films" people.

And just incase you haven't already watched it 5 million times like the rest of humanity, The Life of Brian and The Holly Grail are two of the greatest films ever made.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Its not really a wtf movie and its in Black and White but I'd recommend citizen kane. Its cinematic techniques have aged really well.

Now that's a movie with a really stupid plot twist. Rosebud my a**...

And if we're stepping into the realm of old german gothic horror movies (The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari) then I recommend Nosferatu.
